Answered: Saving new brushes so they're in Brush menu...

I downloaded the Dam_Standard brush. When I was going to put the .ZBP brush and associated other file (Falloff_Sharp-Alp.psd) into the ZDrushes and the ZAlpha folders I realised they were already there. I have no recollection of ever placing them there.

Anyway, within Zbrush the Dem-Standard brush does not show up as one of the many brushes.

Without loading it within ZBrush every time , how can I make it show up under the brushes every time I start the program?

If you check out LightBox under the Brush heading you’ll find that the Dam_Standard brush comes with ZBrush. It’s just that there are more brushes than will fit in the Brush palette when ZBrush launches, so the extras are included in LightBox.

If you have a brush (or material, texture, etc.) that you want to always load when you launch ZBrush, put it in the appropriate folder within the ZStartup directory. However, don’t put more of 25 of any one item in those folders or you’ll encounter performance issues. Those folders are for items that you use constantly, rather than things you just want to have around for in case you need them. (The latter is where LightBox is handy!)

Thanks, Aurick. I can access Dam_standard from Lightbox.

The brushes I put in the startup folder under brush presets like Dam-Standard and others only show up under Lightbox at startup, which is fine, but not the traditional brush menu.

If I wanted some of those brushes to show up in the traditional brush menu at startup is there a way I could do it?

ZBrush 4.0 > ZStartup > Brush Presets folder.

Edit: Are you sure you are putting them in this folder? It works for me and puts the brushes in the Brush menu.

Thanks. I was looking for them alphabetically. Earlier I didn’t notice the two I added in the area you have highlighted in yellow.
