Answered: Question about activation and upgrade

Hi! I’m glad to post on this board! In fact, I’m not using Z brush. But I bought and activated z-brush 4r3 for my daugter, mid june, a student license. It works great!
Unfortunately, last week, I had to change my internet provider. My daughter hasn’t used Z-brushfor many days, and when she tried to launch it, she was asked to activatez-brush. It is on the same computer, shehad not installed it elsewhere. I don’tknow why she had to reactivate z-brush. She asked for another activation code, and it was OK, but does she has to worriedabout it? She’s using this software on her laptop. Only.

Otherlittle question. She just began to work with Z-brush 4r3, and she’s having aemail about upgrading for 4r4. She needsto upgrade? Is it free? It seems alittle complicated! Is there any update for 4r3 of she really needs to updrage? She needs to desinstall 4r3 before installing 4r4? She can use both on the same computer? Sorry, I’m a little lost! Thanks to help me! Is there any “expiration” date for this upgrade (4r3 to 4r4)?

Thanks foryour time!

4R4 is a free upgrade with many new features.

She can get it here: https://www.pixologic.com/zbrush/downloadcenter/instructions/

It uses the same serial number that she already has.

She can have both on the same computer, but:

  • Only 4R4 will be supported going forward.
  • If she uses GoZ and uninstalls 4R3 after installing 4R4 she will need to reinstall 4R4 or GoZ will no longer work. So it is recommended that either she uninstall 4R3 before installing 4R4 or leave both versions on the computer permanently. (Well, until the next upgrade.)

There is no time limit on when she can upgrade. But it’s free. Why wait?

Thanks! If I may ask, what is GoZ? She’s really a beginner! And for myself, I’m totally lost with that software. She is the artist! :o

GoZ is a button in ZBrush that can send the model to one of several other programs, such as Maya, C4D or modo.

It is discussed in the Documentation folder, found in your ZBrush 4R4 installation.
