Answered: Problem with Z4 Installer

The Installer doesn’t seem to offer any other hard drive choices than the typical ‘C’ for installing ZBrush 4 and as a result aborts the process while setting up because my OS & Program folder hard drive has a different letter (long story).

Here is the error message: “Error 1327. Invalid Drive: C:”

Is there any way I can browse while installing as in the past?

Just map any network directory as drive C:
Installer will continue and you’ll be able to choose any directory

You can map any drive other than the one you want to install ZBrush on as C. It doesn’t have to be a network drive. This is done by opening the Start menu, right-clicking on “Computer” and choosing Manage. You then go to Disk Management, where you can right-click on one of the listed drives and change the drive letter.

After you have intstalled ZBrush, be sure to change the drive back to what it had originally been. Otherwise, any programs that you have installed on that drive will no longer work correctly.

By the way, here is a knowledgebase article that covers this topic. It includes alternate methods to resolve the issue. https://support.pixologic.com/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=58

Thank you guys! I submitted a trouble ticket back in August '10 and was recommended to rename (along Aurick’s words) one of my external hard drive partitions used for backups to C which allowed the installer to complete its job and keep my existing setup at the time. Because I since replaced my computer not too long ago, it is no longer an issue but it did solved the problem for whom this would still apply :+1:.
