Although I have plenty of files in my texture, alpha, and tool folders, none of these items show up in the ZB 4.0 light box. Should I just reinstall ZB? I have a 2009 Imac running OS 10.5.8. Any suggestions? Doug
Which texture, alpha and tool folders are you referring to? Do you mean, for example, ZBrush 4\ZTextures as opposed to ZBrush 4\ZStartup\Textures?
If you’ve put them in the ZStartup folder they won’t show up in Light Box. Instead, they load right into the appropriate palette at launch.
If they’re in the Z folders then they should be showing up in Light Box. If they’re not, you do most likely have a bad installation. Delete the ZBrush 4 folder, then download the installer again (just in case the download itself was corrupted). The download link is in the same email as your serial number – it is not your upgrade link which won’t work again.
I just posted a ticket with similar problems. I have reinstalled twice on both my 2009 iMac and my MacBook Pro and have had similar problems. I usually like to organize my work in subfolders in the zTool folder. When I do that the folders are not visible and I have to use more “traditional” loading methods.
Will re-downloading the installer help this issue?
The link to the download has expired so I can’t tell if the installer is damaged.
The problem I have is not new sub-folders but all the default folders. No files show up lightbox.
I tried to reinstall ZBrush using the original install but cannot get the activation codes to work. I hope Pixologic support gets back to me with a new download link.

I think what’s happening is permissions. Get Info on the ZBrush 4 folder (highlight the folder in the Finder and press Cmd+I). At the bottom of the Info window, click the padlock and enter your admin name/password so that you can fix the permissions. Then in the list, choose either Everyone or the specific user account that you wish to have access to ZBrush. Set that account to Read & Write, then click the gear beneath the list and choose the option to apply the change to contained items. This will set the user permissions for the ZBrush 4 folder and everything within it. Now just lock the padlock and I think you’ll see everything in Light Box like you should.
If the Everyone (or specific user) account already says Read & Write, change it to something else and apply to contained items. Then change it back and apply again.
That should do the trick.
This worked. Thanks a lot. Doug
Hmmm…no joy on my end (didn’t work). Still unable to see either the subfolders or the search engine items under “www”.
DRAT!
That’s because the web search feature is not yet enabled for the Mac version.
Curses! oiled again…
Still can’t see the folders yet but I will live!
