Answered: Back face masking not working

Hello,
I am working on a thin shirt, which has a thickness.
Back face masking does not work.
Searching ‘back face masking’ finds nothing in troubleshooting.

I am on a mac.
Thank you

There is a known issue with automasking in version 4. It will have to be resolved in an update.

If your model has separate polygroups for the front and back surfaces you can easily hide the back surface. Or you can hide everything else, mask it, then unhide the rest again. That’s the only workaround that I can think of at this time.

Hi Brandon! Have you tried selecting a few faces on one side, then growing the selection under Visibility? You can polygroup one side of a difficult mesh pretty quickly this way. If you then activate mask by polygroup, you will not effect the backside even without having to isolate and mask the backface polygroup each time. Hope that helps.

Great idea Will. It’s a decimated mesh but I can still select a few triangles, then grow into what I need, thanks. Also, in your ZBC signature, you have a linke ‘RECENT WORK’. That link doesn’t work fyi.

Can anyone confirm if this is fixed in Z4R2 for Mac?
