Answered: Activate ZBrush on 2nd computer?

Hi
I’m a freelance artist from Italy and I own a Single User License for Zbrush.
I’ve been using zbrush for over a year on my office workstation but I decided just recently that I’d like to work also from my personal laptop. I read on pixologic’s official store that

“Single User copies have a “Home Use” rule which allows them to be installed and activated on two computers (such as a desktop and laptop or a work computer and home machine), provided that both copies aren’t actually run at the same time.”

So I installed Zbrush again on my laptop and was asked for a web activation. Entered my serial number, and was told that I have reached the maximum number of activations, but in my activation history I of course have only one activated computer (my office workstation).

So, is it true I have the right to install zbrush on a second computer? How should I do this?

Thanks for your help

Are you running separate operating systesm (Mac/Windows)?

Yes you should be able to install and register two different computers. As long as you don’t use them at the same time. I do this with my work and home computers. I talked to support before buying a license and they did say it’s fine. However Mac and Windows licenses have to be separate.

You might have to talk to Pixo’s support. I would also check to see if you have an older release of Zbrush still on your computer. That also might be affecting your licensing but I’m not sure.

Thanks for your feedback, MentalFrog! Both are Windows OS.

Anyway, luckily I was able to make contact with Support and they easily solved my problem, it was a technical mistake from Pixologic. Now my activation history has room for one more system.

Back to work, thanks

I just wanted to chime in and let you know that be sure to save your .exe file when you download. Your link to download it only has so many downloads and you’ll have to contact Pixologic if you exceed it for them to reset it.

I found that out when I had to reinstall my OS three times in one day (I got a bad batch of drives and to swap drives multiple times). Thankfully Pixologic was awesome and reset the download link for me and I was ZBrushing the same day.

(Also thankfully Newegg was awesome and swapped out my bad drives!)
