Another newbie question

Is there any way to move the verticies up and down a 3d object without changing the overall shape of the object?? It would help to spread the polys evenly.

In the future, a feature will be added that will allow a 3D object to be re-sampled in order to get a more efficient polygon distribution across a 3D mesh.

That sounds exactly the sort of thing I’m after! :)…if it would straighten vertices to the normal and distribute them as evenly as possible, that would be even better!
