DOOM 4 Announced [May 07, 2008, 4:10 pm ET] - 40 Comments

id Software announces development of DOOM 4, putting out the call for job applicants, as this will be developed in-house, like the rest of the DOOM series: Production has begun on DOOM 4™, the next journey into the legendary DOOM universe. We are expanding our internal team and are currently hiring to work on this highly anticipated title.

“DOOM is part of the id Software DNA and demands the greatest talent and brightest minds in the industry to bring the next installment of our flagship franchise to Earth,” said Todd Hollenshead, CEO, id Software. “It’s critical for id Software to have the best creative minds in-house to develop games that meet the standards synonymous with our titles.”

DOOM 4 will join the award-winning series which has consistently topped sales charts throughout the world.

damn I wish I was qualified for this… if I was graduated (one semester to go), I would apply, but I can’t turn my back on 8 years of school no matter how awesome the job

as much as Hell has been a subject of artwork over the centuries, I’ve never seen it so strongly represented as in the old Doom games… still my favorite games as far as art direction

I sincerely hope they forget Doom 3 ever happened and focus on bringing the old Doom’s art style into the new millenium with a bit of updated gameplay

I noticed ZBrush is mentioned on most of the art position requirements. It’s great to know that ZBrush is the best tool for making bad ass science fiction demons. :+1:
