‘Evening all . . .
I was reading an article about the ancient Greeks & their Medical Practices during the ancient Greek Wars. I’m was really impressed how advanced they were, in the field of medicine. While I was reading I ran across an article about the Greek Physician on the battle field & his medical tools. He wore a Helmet during battle, that contained a large quantity of “Ouzo”, which was used for the injured to help ease the pain. All he had to do was tip his head forward & a dose of Ouzo was poured into the mouth of the fallen Greek soldier. After so many, the poor soldier didn’t feel any pain, or really feel anything at all. Ohhhh, the good’ol days!!! Heheheh. Actually, the Greek Physician also gave himself quite a few doses of the Medicinal Ouzo after a long day on the battle field.
Anyway, after studying the picture of the Greek Physician’s Helmet for quite a while, I felt the urge to duplicate it as much as possible, I tried several times until I felt I had an image that would do that Greek Physician some of the justice, that he well deserved.
The image below is an accurate recreation of his Medicinal Battle Helmet, minus the Ouzo. I hope you enjoy it, for it’s a real piece of Ancient Greek History. Have a good one . . . Mark.
PS: ( I hope that Chris doesn’t read this post, I sure wouldn’t want to corrupt him in his future career - although I’m sure he already has one of these Ouzo Helmets & probably uses it frequently??? )
