anatomy handbook

hi guys,

i finally decided to publish this book about artistic anatomy i created at the end of 2009.

i think it should be a good starting point for beginners… i created 4 different models to better understand the form of the human skeleton, for modelers or also people interested in figure drawing.

the hires model is modeled and rendered in zbrush, the low res is done in maya.

i’m planning to create a second volume about muscles,
hope you like it, you can find it here: Anatomy Book

Nice work. Thank you.

The last time I had an anatomy course was over 30 years ago so I’ve been buying up reference books I could find. One thing I’ve noted is the most difficult part is finding good reference views of the underside of the skull. They are never there.

I loaded a skull model I’d downloaded somewhere and same thing. The underside was basically faked.

As I breezed through yours, I did not see one their either. I hope I did not miss it.

Poor lonely undersides of skulls:( Nobody loves them. Kidding of course and asking if you have a good reference view for a sad soul with no access to a real skull.

Thanks for your post. Looks like you put lots of work and love into that. :+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:

Nice book - some of the views are even orthographic

Blaine: Both the “Atlas of Human Anatomy for the Artist” by Stephen Rogers Peck and “Artistic Anatomy” by Richer and Hale have views of the underside of the skull.

The latter is online (in French) but the picture of the underside of the skull is there (hit ‘Telecharger’ to download the PDF)

Very nice work and extremely useful, especially for a person like me who had no artistic training whatsoever  It’s now bookmarked in my “reference” section.

Grazie mille per questo meraviglioso regalo

Thank you and to my embarrassment I had one of them on the shelf. Oh well.
