Amapi &Z

Hey,

I’ve just posted a tutorial on my site that shows this model & texture created with the combo of Amapi, Zbrush and Lightwave. The tut focuses on the Amapi portion, but it still may be of interest to those looking into that modeler (Version 5 is free) and a 3D worflow that can develope between various programs.

At the bottom of the page: http://www.brilliant-creations.com/tutorials.htm

this is sooooo nice, it’s looks very good!!! :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1:

Amapi has a curious native Interface but if you fall in love with it you can modelise at the speedy of light
Pilou
Ps You can also take a traditional interface

PERFECT timing, Ken!

I just installed Amapi yesterday, and wanted to try the EXACT workflow your tutorial illustrates…

Thanx Indeed!!

A very interesting and ingenious construction method used Ken and a great end result. As far as Amcrazi is concerned I, can never make head nor tail of the damned App as soon as I see things like steam irons and various other obtuse icons my brain turns to mush + that damned weird operating table your meant to place everything on?! I’ll need a cocktail of smart drugs and hallucinogens before it makes sense to my brain.

It took me a few attempts to lock into the workflow of Amapi. But once your brain grasps the paradigm, you can, as Frenchy says, work very quickly.

I’m not into icons either (in any program), so I set up hot keys for the tools, which I kept the same as the Lightwave equivalents. THat way, I wouldn’t have a hot-key hernia trying to remember them all.

Bottom line is that it is another potential tool for our digital sculpture case. Use it for the strengths you find.

It is wonderful to see your work again Ken! Thanks for the link to the turorial. I’ve still to master ZBrush, let alone tackle a new
software. But maybe in time…
Your site is awesome and your books look fascinating. Soon as I can afford it, I will be sure to purchase them. Thanks for sharing. :sunglasses: :+1: :+1:

Thanks for the tutorial Ken. I would love to see a Zbrush/Wings3D tutorial to see how you integrate these two programs.

ken, super illustration of the blend of amapi and z! i too mix these softs, and i’m very comfortable with the mix; just add that i remember that on eovia site, amapi v5 was free domwnload… and also, i’ve heard the story that, when authors of amapi make their program, seeking a name, they choose the classic words of the dog droopy: (“you know what,) i am happy”, become amapi; again thank you showing your work Friendly M.

And the creator of Amapi was a juggler, that’s explain the vibrating use of the mouse on the right of the screen
(with the native interface)
More difficult to make the same with a graphic pen

Tthanks for he tutorial - it will be consumed like all your others.

I’m lost on finding the free version 5 though.

I located a version 4.15 at Bakhter but could see no mention of it on Eovia’s own site (only demos for 6 and soon for 7).

Can anyone give me a link for version 5 if it is a full free copy?

Many thanks

Hi bonecradle
Go there : version Amapi 6.1 freeware !!!
Pilou
Ps Else for the version 5.1 you must find it in a magazine !
Pss A mega very interesant site of Amapi tuts (Ken B is present

Frenchy, I downloaded the Amapi program from the site you mentioned. But instead of beeing a freeware complete program, it required a registration number. If not provided, its Save option was disabled. I dont read French, does the site give the registration number?

Fraid the version 6.1 isn’t freeware. The link from ZDnet goes straight to the Eovia/Carrara website or one of their mirrors and is for the 30 day demo version (the file includes ‘TE’ which stands for ‘trial edition’).

If you want to try the demo go to www.eovia.com to their download page and register for the demo - they will then email you a serial number.

As Pilou said, actual freeware of version 5 (or 5.5 I have seen) is available on the CD that comes with some magazines. I would try ‘Computer Arts’ and ‘3D World’ first; after that I wouldn’t have a clue I’m afraid.

Good luck

Hi Ld
I am desolated ! But I have not loading the Version 6 !(5.15 is enough for the moment for me  It was writing “Une version gratuite du modeleur Amapi 3D.”
= a free version of the modeler Amapi 3D.
Licence freeware
There is no link for the Serial use ?
Try the 7’ post of this maybe it’s work (it’s for the V5 but)
Else try this
Here you have the free Version 4 !
else here all magazines where you find for a low price the version 5.15
Hope this help
