I am sure that in either a ZBrush Live stream or a ZBrush Summit stream someone mentioned that it is possible to make fibermesh conform to a specified piece of geometry. I generally sculpt product models so rarely use Fibermesh, if I need to simulate hair for my personal work, I’ll generally use Maya. I love the idea of being able to sculpt hair shapes and then getting fibermesh to follow the forms thus being able to quickly create hairstyles without hours of grooming. I can’t see an obvious way of doing this and can’t find anything in the manuals. Was I mistaken? Thoughts?
There is a feature called MorphTaget Guided in the Fibermesh> Modifiers menu will will let you generate fibers in the shape of the difference between a sculpted mesh and a stored morph target. So you could store a MT, sculpt the hair as a solid mass on the mesh and then generate the fibers in roughly that shape. Fiber direction and characteristics are still a result of fibermesh settings and grooming.
