Alpha is only painted vertical?

Hi,

I’m a new user and I have got some problems with a custom alpha brush I’ve made.

I created a simple alpha gradient in PS (horizontal ellipse shape) and then saved it as a PSD (grayscale, 16bit, 256x256px). When I import it in ZBrush3.1 and start to paint then my alpha is only applied in the vertical direction… if I go back to PS and rotate my alpha 90 degrees (so that it gets vertical in PS) and then import again, it’s still only applied in the vertical direction?

Is there a setting in ZBrush that makes the brush stroke rotate, depending on how I use my Tablet?

I’ve attached a screen grab where green indicates how I want the alpha to be applied and red is how it’s being applied now. Hope you understand my problem. Thanks in advance!

The best thing to do in this case is to start with one of the Stitch brushes, which is preconfigured to have the behavior that you’re looking for. Then replace the alpha with the one that you want to use.

You will need to rotate the alpha 90 degrees. This is easily done using the Alpha>Rotate button.

Don’t forget that for really smooth drawing and ease of following the model’s contours you can turn on Lazy Mouse mode in the Stroke palette.

Aha, didn’t know I could rotate the alpha within ZB. Will have a try. Thanks for your help!
