All Clay brushes cause irregular pressure/ anomalies when at smaller brush size. please help

This problem has been causing me a nuisance for quite some time and I cant figure out how to trouble shoot it.
I have tried:
Increasing the size of the model so the brush is “bigger”.
Amending the topology, however the topology is clean/ even spread across the model (no blending of high density areas).
Altering the brush modifiers, as this problem is only happening with all my clay brushes and not the standard, but not avail.
And countless more silly techniques, but i seem to be missing something.

i can provide more information/ images if needed, any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Hello @Ashli_Bell-Bowling,

The clay brushes are working as intended for me in ZBrush 2024.

The clay brushes are designed to be “noisy” and introduce a lot of random stroke detail. This is generally considered a feature of those brushes. If you want more uniform strokes, use something like “Layer”.

Make sure that Lazy Mouse (L) is active. This will let you create smoother strokes modified by the settings in Stroke> Lazy Mouse. If Lazy Mouse is not active the strokes will separate easily.

If Sculptris Pro is not active, then the quality of the brush strokes brushes are heavily dependent on the mesh resolution of the underlying surface. So a larger brush cursor may be using enough of the mesh and that mesh may have sufficient resolution to smoothly capture the stroke, but a tiny brush cursor may not. There simply aren’t enough points falling under the brush radius to accurately capture the stroke.

Subdividing the mesh further may improve performance with very fine brush sizes.

Sculptris Pro may improve the performance of the stroke by adding new geometry to the mesh in real time.

Make sure the “tip feel” for your pen is set to a firmer, rather than a soft value. values that are too soft will cause abrupt transitions in the pressure state, which may make the strokes easily blob up. A firmer stroke will require more deliberate pressure to change the brush Intensity.
