Alien Concept

Hello again. Got some more free time and decided to make a new design.
This time it’s something kind of crazy looking, very organic and not evil or scary at all since my designs usually are seen as “horror”
I gathered tons of insect pictures, reptiles and also tried to get some inspiration from other artists’s creations.
The result is what you see. Basically I took the concept of the word “Alien” and tried to make something that looked totally new.
The structure is something that cannot be compared to anything existing (besides maybe some insects speaking of just the legs) in real life so I tried to invent a new anatomy if I am allowed use this important and complex word just for this purpose
The overall shape looks very primitive, even slightly embrional.
I imagine him walking very very slowly and in a non-rational way. Like if it’s the first step of an alien race evolution.
I attached three pictures.
The first one is a close up of the face.
Second one is a complete view of the design, with some slightly different features.
The third one is 100 percent zbrush (polypainted everything and used a nice skin shader I found somewhere on this forum) with just a few photoshop touches to add some glossyness and highlights.

Before making it I wrote a short story about the planet from where he comes from, how he survives, what does he eat, why there are some opalescent-similar surfaces on his body and legs, etc.

A few technical facts: base mesh in Maya, the rest in Zbrush (texture is 100 percent polypainted). Photoshop was used to add some more details and to make the general feel prettier.

I hope you enjoy it
Cheers!

Fabrizio

Very cool, unique. I really like that 3rd image. But, if I saw it, it would scare the hell out of me.:+1:

Great idea and execution. Your stuff just keeps getting better and better!
Someone snag this talent while you can!!

Hi DF! Awesome sculpt! Quote:“Photoshop was used to make the general feel prettier.” … :+1: !

Outstanding. The texturing is really very good!

interesting piece…
would like to see a version without texture.

Great alien concept! The PS postwork is amazing Fabrizio!
Thumbs up!!! :+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:

good work mate :+1: can we have a look at the sculpt without textures and a shot of the poly-painted sculpt without postwork please

I would personally like a full-body view with no cut edges, it’s still a bit hard to see the whole image of the alien without it’s basic shapes all at the same time.

But so far looking good, cool design, really illogical leg placement :stuck_out_tongue:

Very cool design. I like the glowy bits and the glowing tendrils are awesome.

oooohhhhh It’s look great!!! i like it…:+1: :+1: :+1:

very nice! Love the detail in the skin, great texturing! :+1:

Hello again. Sorry for the late reply, had a nasty fever @_@
Here’s a shot of the raw polypainting version and I also included a few shots of the body and head at the very first steps of creation.
As you can see the final design is very different from how I started it.
At the beginning I wanted to give this creature a kind of baby-alien look, then I decided to make it more weird and less innocent even though not evil at all.

Grotesque and creepy. Love the sculpt. Looks like a praying mantis and an octopus. Great textures. Zbrush render?

Thanks  I wanted to put more details but these days I’m busy so I did it very quickly, especially the sculpt.
Yes it’s a zbrush render while the first ones are photoshopped.
Cheers!

Definitely a very cool creature. Different from the usual alien designs. I like the placement of the legs and also the texturing (a bit like I like to work on my creatures ;)).
