ALERT! PLEASE READ VIRUS WARNING CONCERNING MY WEBSITE!!

It’s a funny thing. My website isn’t even operating yet and already the hackers are scarfing up my email address and using it to launch virus attacks. Sheesh…go figure. Anyway I have just today received two email messages that contain viruses. Both originated from some email gattling gun distributer using my sargentgfx.com address. Here is the bulk of what the email said:

IF YOU RECIEVE AN EMAIL LIKE THIS DO NOT OPEN IT! There is no “staff” at sargentgfx.com and I have not and do not send out messages like this. Do not open the attachment. It contains the virus.

Lol I love the part about the “management at sargentgfx…” hahaha…me, myself and I is about it.

Visionized was hacked with that one.

Actually, it’s not going to send to any of your visitors, it’s written for corporate domains…so endusers will think that their corp techies sent it out.

You should be the only one that received that, as I was the only one within Visionized.com

Thanks Kat. I had thoughts along the same lines concerning that. It occured to me though that if they could blast out an email to me they could easily target anyone at random using the same email moniker. Just wanted to play it safe and let everyone know. So how are things with you?

I had a similar one…well received several…using my isp tech@address etc.

yesterday I got an email from my isp’s parent company saying their mainframe was hacked into and now personal info of all
users is in the hands of the hackers.

It would be advisable to check any credit card, paypal, passwords or whatever info your isp has from you and change them.

Thanks for the headsup Lon! :+1:

this is a recent worm – the message is generated from a template with the domain name substituted in the right spots – all running on automatic – probably got your address from a 3rd party’s address book – we had a few of those at work as well

good that you brought it up, in case others hadn’t seen this one yet

the tipoff is the zip file that needs a password to unlock it – the reason for the locked zip file is that antivirus software on mail servers won’t be able to scan inside the attachment – most mail servers will let zip attachments go through even if they block *.exe or other executable attachments

Hi
I had the same trouble on my mail and this is one of the w32beagle worm which got various forms.
