I have been experimenting creating images in Vue and ZBrush to see how best to integrate both programs for the best results. This is an image done in Vue, but I think a lot of the objects used could just as easily have been created in ZBrush.

DeeVee,
Joe.
It’s a good compostition, Joe, but it needs the light brought up in the foreground. It has what I call an ‘eye magnet’…That is, the eye is carried immediately through the foreground, and then ‘trapped’ back there. What a painting should do is lead the eye around in the order the painter wanted, using colour, light, and forms to lay out the path for the journey. The lack of detail or in particular, light in the foreground shuts the eye down too quickly…
Nice light in the lower right sky area over the landmass…
Thanks for commenting. I was not interested in the forground only the sunset sky, the elephants and the Acacia trees were only added to tie the image to Africa, not to be the main focus. That is why the items in the foregroud are in dim light without much detail.
Ahhh…I didn’t even SEE any elephants in here…Since I just checked my monitor calibration last Friday, might I suggest this is a little TOO restrained lightwise?
wow…had to revisit this one Joe. Over 15 commentaries and I saw that one thought it was a tad dark. I think this image stands nicely on it’s own. I love the silhouette personally. Though I have never seen beasties of this magnitude in the wild, I have observed wild boar at this time of the day while I was stationed in Germany for several years. Those desk size hogs often roamed the area I was stationed rummaging about for scraps and fallen fruits and nuts from trees as well as rooting about I guess for bugs. This image puts me in that mind set. I was just unclear on why SC would think this was too dark. I regularly now check my own images against other friends computers because I did go thru a stint if the old timers on the forum remember, where all my images were almost unviewable they were so dark. So now I work in a dark room per Kathy’s advice and now I check often against the other machines. I can make the elephants out easily. If there was more brush or trees in the way of the viewer I might see myself having difficulty pointing out what they were. I don’t wish to start a debate on the subject or anything, but I did need to give another point of view here. I also just wanted to reinforce my thoughts on a beautifully rendered scene. Someday I need to visit the wild of Africa for sure.
Thanks Ron, your comments are appreciated.
Out of Africa
Little darkness for the Pc Users !

I think it looks rather nice Joe. I like the sky and as far as darkness it looks fine on my monitor (and mine is notorious for having low gamma settings). Excellent!
