Affordable high detail 3D printer...

Hey guys,

I haven’t been on the boards for a bit (baby on the way, new job (finally) etc and so on) but Ive still been lurking and thought you all would appreciate this:

In my neverending research for a new, affordable way to make all my projects I stumbled on this guys draft Kickstarter campaign. He’s a pretty impressive guy and seems much further along that some of the other guys doing similar machines. I contacted him directly and told him how excited I was. He currently plans to release the resin to the open source community and other vendors to help lower the costs…

For those of us interested in jewelry, small character sculpts, etc, this thing is HUGE. It prints in an objet type of resin and allows high detail and complex geometries like overhangs, etc.

For a little more than the cost of the Cintiq, you can buy a fully assembled one.

He’s certainly legit and appears to have even served on the board of one of the X-prize teams a while back.

I think this may be a huge step forward for a lot of us.

I’m hoping to get this in addition to my Ultimaker I should be receiving tomorrow. I will keep you all updated on the process and how it all turns out as I go.

Have a look at the Kickstart campaign and if you’re interested help the guy out or buy one of your own.

I’m really excited in case you can’t tell

Cheers everyone,
holto

looks very interesting… thanks for the post!
