I inserted this ‘button’ on a subtool and was able to transpose just the button. At the time I was happy with it and continued but now I’m having trouble selecting JUST the button for transposing. I can split the polygroups and select just the button with Ctrl+Shift which lets me transpose the button BUT it hides the rest of the subtool. Ideally I’d want to not mess around with polygroups, surely there must be a way to mask that damn button with 1 click? Similar to ‘select element’ in a 3D program?
Ah someone showed me a cool trick. Ctrl/Shift select it and hide the rest. Then mask with whatever (Rectangle tool) then unhide the rest and invert mask!

 Actually you do want to mess with them, as well as individual subtools. When you insert, it will be a different group, it’s added to the selected subtool. You can split it off right then. Usually works best(for me) to work on a part of the model and bring in into the project then append and adjust as necessary.
If you are on any of the transpose functions (move, scale or rotate) ctrl-clicking on a group (the button) will automask everything except the button.
The simplest way is to use Mask By Polygroups. Set the Brush>AutoMasking>Mask By Polygroups slider to 100. Turn on Move mode and click+drag on the button to draw the Transpose line. You’ll then be able to move the button where you want.

That last option works and it’s super easy. I do wonder if sliding it to 100 will cause problems elsewhere but for now it’s just what I needed. Thanks for the extra ideas.
Just make sure to turn it off when you’re done using it or ‘there will be issues later’
