Adding topology dynamically

Hello!

I have a face model consisting of only 10k points. It already has UVs.

Now I would like to create some tentacles coming out of the head, keeping the UVs.

Although I have Dynamic Subdivision enabled, when I use the Move Topology, it’s really “sticky”:
It’s really hard to move the topology to form some tentacles.

I once saw a YouTube video where one activated something, and then it became really easy to do something like this.

Unfortunately I’ve forgotten what he did.

How could I do this again, please?

Thank you very much!

Have you tried the Snakehook Brush instead?

Thank you, but that isn’t what I need. The Snake brush is more like a little more MoveTopology brush.

I was looking for something else I saw in a video.

Dynamic Subdivision doesn’t dynamically alter the topology. It simply shows you a dynamic (realtime) preview of what the model would look like if it were subdivided with smoothing on. You’re ultimately still working with the original lowpoly vertices, which is why move and snakehook seem to stick.

Sculptris Pro mode will dynamically add new topology while you sculpt.UVs are not preserved however, and I don’t think I’ve seen any method in zbrush for dynamically adding new vertices while simultaneously giving those new vertices new UV coordinates.

Thank you very much for the clarification!
