Adding a head to a bod without having to redo topology for my head's polyflow?

So I have a great polyflow on my basemesh head…
and I want to keep it as a library item to reuse for other variations later… and add those variations to different bodies.
I’ve added meshes to others using insert mesh but that re-draws the topology…

this may be an obvious answer to my question, but…

could someone please direct me to a tutorial showing me ow i can join parts with maintaining the original polyflow - the EXACT polygon pattern of my parts?
