Add Textures like add a material - Help

Hi everyone, is there apply a texture in parts of a object like a textured material?
Appling textures with the brushes always cause problems like blur or seams even using the drag rect. I wanted that the texturing painting works like a textured material painting, where aren’t seams or blur but I can’t use the materials because I must export my model to other programs. Maybe the “shaded pick” of the texture master works, but it’s hard to use it, especially
with the shadows problem.
I heard that Paint Shop Pro and Deep Paint 3D can do this( you can drag the brush and no seams or blur appear the object’s surface )
Does anyone know if I can do the same in Zbrush?

Thanks

Hi Palladin
May be you can try to initialize your 3D object with a biggest definition.
So the painting will be more precise.
Hope this help

Also, you can accomplish this outside of the texture master script, by using 3D Copy.

Check out this tutorial about how to get seamless textures from a non tileable texture.

Additionally, you can use the shaded option without a shadows problem if you load your object in flat color mode, (when using 3D Copy). Hope this helps.

Thanks for everyone the help, but what i was saying is that you can’t paint with in the texture master without get a seam or blur. I want a tool that can paint a texture with no blurring but using the drag rect cause seams in the texture.
The pics shows the problems I am having.
Anyone knows if there is a way to solve this?
Thanks

Well, I think this looks good. Here is a script of what I did…maybe it will help.
Also, you can draw the texture with the drag stroke, hit the ‘W’ key to enter move mode, hit ‘shift+s’ to snapshot the texture onto the object, then use the gyro to move the texture to the next location. Repeating the process several times to tile the texture (this isnt in the zscript below).

Good luck!

Hi Palladin
Another solution
Put the RGB to 100
Put the Zadd Off
Draw one time your texture with Drag Move and use the “Repeat last” in the Menu Stroke.
When you will obtain the wish effect use the Tool Brush Light (?) ± for clear a little the texture because after many “repeat” this one become some dark !
Hope this help

I normally paint textures onto textures this way by using the Drag Rectangle stroke, RGBIntensity at 100, and Alpha 01. This blends the edges of each stroke together because the most color is applied at the center and then fades out toward the edges.

Thanks everyone for helping. I see that are many ways to paint textures.
I tried the diferent ways to paint, they work well in most cases, but I am trying to add textures like bricks the wall and the roof and for this the texture must have the same size in the entire surface. Every time I try the bricks are diferent in zize e position and the texture was a bit blurred.
Anyone knows how to add these types of texture ?

Thanks

Tell you what, post some images of the house/building and textures you want to use. Then, type a little explination. That way we can get a feel or what your looking for.
 :+1: I am sure there is a way. TM is very powerful.

If your texture is tileable/seamless, then you can do what you want very, very easily.

  1. Drop the object to the canvas.
  2. Select the Plane3D
  3. Select the texture
  4. Set the Tool>Modifiers>Texture H and V repeat counts to something higher than 1
  5. Draw the plane on the canvas (holding down the Shift key while drawing will snap its orientation to be square).
  6. Use the Move and Scale gyros to position it appropriately and fine tune your texture repeat values. Exit Edit mode.
  7. Pick with TextureMaster

Or, of course, you can tile the texture using Dave’s Tiler ZScript. This comes with version 1.55b. Then you can draw the tiled version onto the object being textured.

Aurick beat me to it.
Here is a script I made showing just what he said.

This also shows how to make a house from ZSpheres (Ken B style).
I didnt know about the tiler script though…thanks aurick. :+1:
Enjoy!

Thanks, the plane3D worked well, but there are only a problem: the other sides of the model get blurred when I apply the plane3d.
I never can get all the sides of the roof textured because always one get blured.
Now I’m trying to paint it in the CorelDraw’s PhotoPaint.

i think i found out what you are looking for, here is what i did :
i will suppose your objects are unified or adaptive skins, if not turn them into

  • change alpha to plain white rectangle
  • in the tool panel, put 0.001 for the smooth slider (see aurick thread about that)

load texture master and go for it…

this should work, if not try to put your object in various angles when using tm, not only the 4 usuals ones

it worked for me …
