add Joystick support to your favorite applications. Works with z2 also*.

Board?

ever wonder what Zbrushing would be like with a hat control and a thottle?

Well I got a cool non-productive thing to tinker with!

it is called Joymouse, and is quite cool!
http://www.majorgeeks.com/download1565.html

just run the application, and it puts a little mouse in your system tray, use this little mouse to access the control panel… there you will find speed controls and ways to define Buttons to mouseclicks…you can also exit the program from here.

I still have not found a good use for this , but someday I am sure this will solve a problem! (perhaps if my mouse breaks, I can use Joystick for backup untill I get to the store to buy another mouse  )

it works with Zbrush and all my other applications… it is fun with wings 3d… I still prefer a mouse tho…

  • USE AT YOUR OWN RISK! I have only tested this for about a week now without incident, on your system it may be diffrent.

Now all we need is someone to program a plugin that enables the forced feedback, for those really tight burshstroke turns…
LOL!
Perhaps Zbrush 3 can have a High scores list :sunglasses:small_orange_diamond:+1:

Have fun!

Hi Polaris
Are you like the tilte ?
Because I have seen you Here with the Mouse on the left and your right hand on the electric guitar
(slide the page)
So the joystick resolved all problems
Pilou

the only use i can think of, is maybe for hotkeys.(downloading now…will try it later)

a friend of mine uses a Nostromo game-pad for all his Maya Hotkeys. i personally stick to the keyboard for that:)

i guess if you have a tablet on your desk and are too lazy to reach for the keyboard, you could have a joystick? hehe.

What a totaly COOL IDEA!!!

You cannot define keys to buttons with Joymouse… but:

I went and got another Joymouse that dose … you can find it here
http://www.tucows.com/preview/292788.html

It lets you not only assign keys to buttons… It lets you also assign Winamp controls, Macros, web addresses, windows opperations Etc…

Thanks for the tip!!!

I use a HUGE intuos 2, and I am always hunched over it for the modifyer keys…
Now I can Zbrush with the pad in my lap, and my joystick in my hand.

I may even buy some stick on Velcro, and start velcroing my Joypad to my Intuos…

OMG!! now I can lean back and relax while I work
I may assign my winamp controls to my Hat  WooHoo!!!

Thankyou verry much for the tip :
martial_loh

hehe. just tried out the winamp functions…slightly pointless…but i couldnt think what else my D-pad could be used for. shoulder buttons for alt and tab for rapid window switching…

i got 6 more to play with…any essential z brush commands i should really know?

Yea,

Control,
Alt,

S- change brush size
T-transform mode on/off
Q-Draw
W-move
E-size
R-rotate

That is just for starters…

The new joystick software lets you define a Shift button, so it basicaly Doubles you ammount of joystick buttons with every shift button you assign.

I am going to put it through the “Acid test” later on today.

lol. that much i do know:)
keep us updated with the test.
I did have another idea, but i dont think Joy mouse supports it yet. Instead of just having shift keys, why not have a switch-profile hotkey too? even mooooore hotkeys! aaaaah!

is there a way to make the increment of the brush size smaller? i find that the jump in 10 sizes is too much for me when i hit “]”
thx

On the subject of “joysticks”. Does anyone else here use anything like the Belkin Nostromo for their graphics work?

I have the older N50 version. I purchased it when it first came out for Wolfenstein, but it works fairly well for 3d and 2d graphics programs. I use a Intuous in my graphics apps and find it nice not to have to put down my pen and use both hands for some hotkeys. Basically, on one of the Nostromo’s button you can have multiple key presses (like “ctrl-alt-shift-a” on a single key).

It would be nice to see more devices like this come out. The Zboard is a similar idea, but the size is just too large, and my company has had lots of quality issues trying them.
