Adaptive skin crashing, using 26 spheres

I am running ZBrush 4R6 on OSX Yosemite (if that makes any difference). I have an arm and hand I sculpted using 26 zspheres, and whenever I go to preview or make an adaptive skin the program just crashes. I’ve restarted the computer, I’ve googled the crap out of the keywords I can think of, and I’m just at a loss. I can use adaptive skin on dramatically smaller zsphere sculpts, but that doesn’t do me any good. I need to be able to use adaptive skin on this one and it’s time sensitive. :frowning:

To clarify, the most recent Zbrush version is zbr6 p2. Make sure you are up to date by using the auto update function.

There is clearly something problematic with the tool in question, but if time is sensitive perhaps it is best to just make a high resolution unified skin of the tool, and then zremesh for some better topology. You could also try using the legacy adaptive skinning mode in the adaptive skinning menu to see if that works any better.

A reproducible crash should be submitted to Pixologic Support, along with the file in question.
