Active points and polys.

Hello.
Sorry for the newbie question.
I read subtool information: Polys=3704, Points=3652.
And I don’t understand the difference between active points and polys.
The polys is the faces, isn’t it? But what is active point?
If active point is a vertex or an edge, then the number of points is too small.
If active point is a face, then why is it not equal number of polys?

For example, a cube. It is consists of 6 faces or polygons, 12 edges, 8 vertices.
And where are the active points?

Guys, please, tell me please, what are active points and polys in ZBrush? I can not find this information on the Internet.

Sorry for mistakes, if any.

Thanks.

A point is the same as a vertex. As a single point can be shared by several polygons sometimes there will be fewer points than polygons. For example, the Polymesh3D Star has 24 polygons but only 12 points.

“Active” refers to the points/polygons that are not hidden, so if you hide part of your mesh you will see the active point count reduce.

Marcus, thank you.
Your answer was very useful for me.

And very helpful for me also, more than a year later. Thanks Marcus!
