Accurate camera for 3d Printing

Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere. Can anyone tell me what is the best camera setting ( ie 50, 60 70) focal length etc for accurate 3D printing a figurine?

Thanks for any input!

Are you asking what focal length would preview the model’s dimensions most accurately? It wont have any bearing on the actual dimensions of the model or print.

Hi Spyndel
Thanks for responding.

I’m simply asking using perspective mode what camera do I use in zbrush for 3d printing a figure? The default is 50mm

Thanks

I mean…it doesn’t matter? Camera perspective only affects how the object is rendered in Zbrush. It has nothing to do with the 3d printing of a figure, or with the actual physical dimensions of a model.

While you’re establishing proportions, it’s usually best to work with perspective mode disabled entirely, so you can accurately see the absolute dimensions of a figure without worrying about perspective distortion.

Choosing a focal length for rendering a scene has to do with lots of things, like distance to the model, how much peripheral detail needs to be included, and what you’re trying to achieve with the scene artistically.

I hope u have found an answer for your question, I have the same problem, I do bust and portraits in orthographic mode but when I print it, it looks totally different, so the question is so clear, I hope someone will answer it on experiment

Hello guys. Just use the same focal length that photographers use.
50-80mm for Portraits and 80-120mm for bigger products. For miniatures you can use 150mm and for 1/10 figures 120 is good.

So, less focal length = more distortion
