Hello everybody !I am newbie with ZBrush. I started yesterday.I am trying to follow the tutorial about bust sculpting from 3DMotive.I loaded a tool (a face) and reference photos with the Draw command.it’s said in the tutorial not to use Project Save because of big files. So I saved the tool. Then tried to exit ZBrush. Then I’m asked to save the project. If I don’t do it, I lose everything (the model & reference photos).I don’t understand how to save my work without using Saving Project.Thank you very much for your help.<strike></strike>
You should regularly save your work. Not just before closing ZBrush but also at periodic points throughout your session, just in case of crash or file corruption. It’s best to keep a few versions of a file on hand.
Regardless, there are two ways to save your model:
Tool >> Save As. This saves your current Tool, and only that Tool. It is therefore the smaller file size of the two options. After restarting ZBrush and loading your model again (using Tool >> Open) you need to draw it on the canvas again and enter Edit mode in order to continue sculpting. The file format for this is ZTL.
File >> Save As. This saves all Tools that you have worked on during your session, your Undo History and more. It is therefore a larger file size. After restarting ZBrush you would open your file again using either File >> Open or the Projects section of LightBox. Your model will already be in Edit mode when it loads. The file format for this is ZPR – also known as a Project.
I hope that helps.
Thank you very much for reply.
My scene is made of 2 reference images and the bust.
At present time I saved it as a project but I’m aware that’s not perfect. What should I use if I want to keep everything (images & bust) ?
Thank you.
