Chad’s right. These guys have been around for a while, and this is the next logical step in what they were already doing.
Let me also add that it’s not a rip-off in price, either. If you’ve the money to burn, this surpasses ZBrush in at least two ways:
First, it’s directly integrated into your animation software, so import/export issues are a thing of the past. That’s a very dramatic workflow improvement.
Second, it’s based in haptic technology, delivering the tactile feedback so many sculptors whine about missing.
That said, I wasn’t impressed by their hardware demonstration at Siggraph. I prefer ZBrush’s tool set over what they were showing back then, and I prefer the simplicity of a Wacom tablet. But, I can certainly understand why others might feel differently, and I won’t look down on them for buying this.
