A WIP and easy questions

This is a WIP I’m doing at the moment. As you can see I can’t get the anti-aliasing right. I’ve tried every setting and read all the quicklinks but nothing seems to affect it when I do a final render. The image is 1024X1024 pix.
And another thing…how do you close those darn graphs. OK you click on them to open them but clicking on them again only puts another dot on the line…gah! I’ve never used them much before.

Hmmm…anti-aliasing doesn’t look bad there but I’ve shrunk the image. It’s bad blown up lol

Ken:

I think the best and only way right now is to use the new “AAHalf” button and immediately export the result. You can even work in this “antialiased” view in real time. I find that, alone to be a real nerve- saver. Of course, this implies creating at double the resolution of your exported image, which could be prohibitive. I didn’t at first know that you could export this antialiased view and get a half-sized image.

Good Afternoon KenH . . .

Regarding the "Anti-Aliasing", your image looks good at this size. Anything that I render for a finalized image, I render at minimum size of 2000 by what ever, sometimes larger if my system will handle it. ( I'm only running a PIII 500 / 512 mgs. ram, & doing any work in Zbrush with a screen size larger than 2000 by whatever, really taxes my system, down to a crawl. ) Any of the nice clear images you see rendered in Zbrush, are rendered at very large screen sizes, along with the different "Anti-Aliasing" settings. Then when you reduce the image size, that really sharpens the edges. I don't know what size, or have I ever tried to render an image in Zbrush for print, being that my system wouldn't handle it, you'll need a super fast beast to render a really large image in Zbrush. I kinda wish Pixologic would do something about "Anti-Aliasing" myself, without having to render such a large sized image, to get smooth edges. I work with other 3D software packages also, & every one of them renders some very good "Anti-Aliasing", without having to render at such large image sizes, so I'm sure Pixologic could do something about this, ( ? problem ? ), it they would attempt to do so. You said: "And another thing...how do you close those darn graphs." I don't mean to sound dumb . . . but what graphs are you talking about ??? I'll check back later to see your explanation for the "graphs" question, & you have a good one . . . Mark.

As well as working at 2500 or so for an image size, I use the render panel settings, and find that I don’t have a problem…Also the new ‘Rays’ feature seems to help a great deal. I’ve found that 10 for a Ray setting seems to work, and my render panel settings are Blur-20, Edge-17,Sample Size-3, Super Sample-2…

Works for me!

(I also don’t know what graphs you’re referring to, or what they have to do with your render…)

Pull the dots out side the graph…then they go.

Ed’s answer changes the graph to have be a flat, zero line. I doubt that’s what you’re after.

You can’t close a graph, per se. However, only one graph can be open at a time. So when you open any other graph, the last one will collapse automatically without changing its settings.

The graphs don’t get in the way anymore with 1.5 because you can now scroll the trays vertically. But if you were using the demo, you’d sometimes find it useful to open a graph in the tray on the opposite side to collapse a graph that is getting in the way of you being able to see interface items below it. I know that isn’t the case with you, but some other people might be interested.
