A warning about system restore in Windows and the ZBrush upgrade subscription key

Greetings,

I just wanted to give a heads-up to those who might be considering try to solve other hardware or software issues using the system restore in Windows. I have been putting the final touches on a computer that I had built myself for my 49th birthday and installing Windows Vista Ultimate 64. I have had other computers before. Well I did a system restore while attempting to resolve a software driver issue with a Creative soundcard. I was fairly careful in choosing the restore point with the exception of ZBrush 3 upgrade key. I now have to politely ask [email protected] if they will give me another chance with my subscription key  When my ZBrush is not working I miss it more than I do my Adobe Photoshop:)

I myself have used 3 out of 4 of my licenses because of having to re-install either Win XP 64 or ZBrush 3. Didn’t learn about the license tools till the second try and the the third try still failed.
Not to worry if you bought ZBrush 3 Pixo will always re-instate your license.
Just don’t bomb your Comp on the weekend, you’ll have to wait untill monday to use ZBrush 3.

I’m dead in the water after upgrading Parallels. ZB wants its key but when entered complains my keys are all used up. Cautionary tale when using ZB in a Virtual Machine.

Assuming you’ve paid for your license, call pixologic and have then re-issue a new serial.

Just got my new serial–only a couple of hours dowtime.

Not too bad, but still annoying. :stuck_out_tongue:

Just used up my sixth registration this morning. I didn’t think someone would could up with a system more sensitive than WGA in virtual machines, but there it is . . .

Hopefully the Pix guys can get the Cleverbridge guys to turn down the sensitivity to system changes a notch or two. (ZB3 zeems to throw a hissy fit when the graphics card emulation is updated, which is the big area of work in virtual machines these days.)

In any case, hats off to the Pix guys for ZB3–even running in emulation on a Mac, it’s the best sculpting tool out there! :+1:
