A Transparency And Reflection Tutorial Script...As seen in my 'Spaceman' image...

This is a script to show how the material modifiers graphs can help you control reflective and transparent effects. Pixolator helped me learn these adjustments, and now has helped again, inserting notes into the script to clarify the process.
I also want to thank Aurick for his patience in dealing with my ‘programming phobia’ resulting from my early computer use when we had to learn to program…
The script results in the following image:

There is a background image, and reflection map included in the zip, as well as the lens tool…Make a new folder, put it where you keep scripts, unzip this file into it, and run it from Z!!
Hope you enjoy it, and learn some new trix!!

TransReflect.zip
(As an interesting experiment, let the script run to conclusion, ‘turn off’ the background layer, select the ‘Blur’ brush, set a good size, select ‘ZAdd’ on, everything else off, and ‘smooth’ the lens…You might be surprised at the effect.)

Thanks a million Stonecutter !!! It’s a beauty to watch and learn this—I did not know half of this stuff-

-everybody load this and take the ride to reflective learning !!! :stuck_out_tongue:  :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks Stonecutter, I’ll try this very useful addition.
Dave.

Most excellent work SC!
Thanks for the effort (we all know these things take time and effort)

I picked up on a whole new scheme!!

Siskel and LaFollett give it:

Thanks Stonecutter. Great script. I’ll put this to good use! :+1:

I thought it might be interesting for my ZBuds to see the actual images I used in my ‘Spaceman’ image to get a real idea how it worked…First I opened a new document, standard size and did this…

Then by filling the layer with the previous image, then modelling a quick ‘ship’, merging the layers, and painting the explosion, you get this…

Using my scripts’ methodology you would fill the background layer with the first image, model the spaceman, merge him with the background, make the visor on what is now layer 2, and use the second image for the visor reflection…Tweak it as I show in the tutorial, and you get my finished image!

Hope this gives you guys all kinds of ideas!

:+1: :+1: :+1: :+1: and so on…
