A quick way to make ruined buildings?

Does anybody have any suggestions for making ruined modern buildings in zbrush? They don’t have to be terribly detailed, just some stuff for the background.

I hope you don’t mind me asking. I could probably manage this, but there are so many talented folks here who could get it done in about 10% of the time that it would take me to muddle through…

Thanks.

how do you mean ruined? like a world war II england kind of ruined or more of a run down gotham city darkeness kind of ruined?

i’m lazy, so i would do it this way : make an alpha image in Zbrush, using Ztools ( 2D mode) and then : Alpha make 3D …you can even use photo’s of real buildings.

this is just one quick alpha…if you use 3 or 4, you can make nice ruins !

jantim

Thanks Jantim, that’s good. I had come up with a couple based on primitives, masking, deforming etc. but that would be faster and I like the looks better.

Hi Aminuts. I’m thinking ruined like the entire social order has collapsed post apocolyptic sort of ruined. Just some kind of low detail stuff for backgrounds. Thanks.

…use some grids masking with negative gravity, inflation Deforrmations

Thanks Frenchy. I have a couple done that way.

I found some pictures of buildings and brick walls such on the net and tried alpha skinning them. I had some success, but I think alpha skinning a picture is kind of a dicey proposition. The more I look at jantim’s alpha and other “sucessfully” skinned alphas on zbc the more I can see very uniform coloration on them.

Thanks.
