Heyas Bill…thnx for the link…I checked to make sure it was NOT the 50 Horror Classics that they sell on the Sci Fi channel for the exact same price…I advise not to buy the one off the tv…
There are only a couple on the five disc set that are actually horror classics…
They put in several movies that were not even horror films, but one in particular entitled “Swamp Woman” is about escaped female convicts and a male hostage in a flat bottom boat getting some loot one of them stashed before breaking out of prison…though a totally late 50s early 60s B movie and ok to watch for nostalgia…definitely not a horror flick…so they scammed me…and a gazillion others I am sure who bought it…
Eaten Alive which is an ok flick was not even complete …cuts off before the end of the movie…
The resolution on their movies is very low quality…remember putting 6 movies in the old days on vhs…alot of them had that low res quality…
Out of fifty movies. Eaten Alive, silent version Nosteratu, The Last Man on Earth, Night of the Living Dead and the original House on Haunted Hill (those are the main titles that come to mind) the rest are pretty much garbage…
The way they formatted the movies, if you hit forward or backwards to view something you might have missed etc…it takes you immediately to the next movie…so if you missed a scene or something you have to watch the complete movie all over again…very sad
The dvd’s are double sided which is good and bad at the same time for me…
If you call to order…lol…they try to sell you everything …the sci fi collection etc…was driving me crazy…but I did manage to stay calm with the young lady on the phone…
The 50 collection I got is good as background noise while I am zbrushing…You definitely get what you pay for…I think their website was something like www.50horrorclassics.com or something like that…anyhoo…thnx for the heads up on your 50s link…my own sucked…
I figure with titles like, “Jesse James Meets Frankenstein’s Daughter” how can you go wrong? The person who told me about it said the quality wasn’t that great, but he didn’t mention it being terrible.
I don’t watch much sci-fi channel. but that’s mostly because the rather old tv in the basement refuses to tune anything above channel 40. Interesting about your experiences with that though.
since some of the movies you mentioned i know for sure are public domain movies, i wonder if the others are? this means that someone is coping those crappy files off the internet, creating a crappy running dvd…probably with crap software to sell to folks?
i try to avoid buying anything i can’t find somewhere in person or know someone who has it kind of thing cuz nowadays everyone is out to make a quick buck and they don’t give a damn who gets burned along the way it seems.
Which titles were you referring to?
ummm let’s off the top of my head Nosferatu and night of the living dead…ummm i forget the other ones…you can check em out at the Internet Archive I believe to see which are and which aren’t for sure.
A reviewer posted the list at Amazon. Someone also posted a one-liner for the titles.
