4r7 Zmodeler Edge actions Align: What does it do and how does it work?

Hi,

I have been going through the Zbrush4_R7_whats_new.pdf file to try to understand what each Zmodeler function does. On page 51 the Edge Action Align command is described. I have not been able to get this function to do anything no matter what options or modifiers I choose. Does anyone know how to use this command?

Thanks,
-Joe

It works on an Edge Strip* and you click on a start and finish edge that are perpendicular to the edges you want to align. When you click the second edge, hold down the mouse button and then press Shift to snap the edges uniformly. (I’m afraid I don’t yet fully understand the different options!)

*The Edge Strip Target corresponds to a set of edges that are located in the same poly loop (meaning that extraordinary points with an odd number of edges are permitted). The first click defines the beginning of the strip and a second click defines its end.

Thanks, that helps. But there is still something about this function that I am not getting. Sometimes it seems to work but only on stripes that are mostly planar. Lots of times I click on two edges in the same stripe but nothing happens.
