4R7 pressure sensitivity issue

Hello,

I have a very odd problem in zbrush 4r7. After sculpting for about 15 minutes with regular pressure sensitivity, it cuts out. Once that happens, the Wacom stylus works more like a mouse. I recorded a short video to better show what I mean.

In the video each stroke is made with light and even pressure. I don’t pick the pen up, but you can see weird “on/off” sculpting.

This is a problem that I also have occasionally, certainly not as frequent as you. It seems that could be originated by several causes and not all solutions work for everybody. Then some solutions:

  • Close and open again Zbrush, nothing that you want to do really anyway.
  • Check with the last wacom drivers
  • Click another program and return to Zbrush
  • Check that any program installed is not removing the focus over Zbrush briefly, as popups. This in Photoshop creates thick black lines as for a brief moment if loses the sensitivity.
  • Stop and start the service of wacom drivers in the service window. This by the way reinitialize wacom without need of restart the computer when appears the message " drivers are not working"

I hope any of these can be of any help.

I’ve got the same problem and can’t find any way to fix it. I don’t think that it has to do something with the tablet. In Photoshop it’s working as usual whitout any problems, I loaded a new driver too but nothing chanced. Restarting my PC and ZBrush doesn’t seem to work as well

Altea, thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunately, none of them seem to work. I’ve had some success with restarting ZBrush, but the problem continues after about 15 minutes. So far, no problems with zModeler brush though.

Lyvian, Yeah same here. Updated Wacom drivers but nothing has changed. Hopefully somebody from Pixologic can let us know

I once read that the solution is vice versa - go to an older driver version

Can’t remember the number but look at this:

Good luck!

Try this.

Go to your Wacom Tablet Properties and on the Mapping tab, uncheck “Use Windows Ink”

@Knacki thank you! I installed the older driver version and everything is working again. :+1:small_orange_diamond:)

I agree with Knacki. It’s not a problem with the program, it’s a problem with the tablet driver. I used to encounter this issue in Photoshop as well as ZBrush where I would randomly lose pressure sensitivity. My solution was to install an older driver and that fixed the problem.

Now if I can just figure out how to force the tablet driver to load at start up! When I fire up my computer, half the time I have to manually restart the driver. It’s not a big problem, just annoying that it doesn’t automatically load.

im plagued by the same issue and so far the only solution was to use a old tablet driver (6.3.10w2). disabling “Use Windows Ink” did not change the behavior.

Good to hear that you back in business. I am glad I could help.

Thanks Knacki. Just went back to old drivers and it seems to be working perfectly. Was able to sculpt the whole time
Thanks again to everyone who replied! I really appreciate it.
