4R2b Install Problems

Have posted a support ticket, but thought I’d ask here too in case someone else has had a similar issue:

Install is on a Mac running 10.6.8: I have downloaded the updated, and deactivated my current install (all ok and as expected so far). I “Continue” through the first few windows of the installer until I “Agree” with the license; the next page lists one option - “Install For All Users Of This Computer.” However this is greyed out, as is the continue button.

As my install was not in the original location, I moved it to the path of /Applications/ZBrush 4R2 OSX as noted in the Read Me, and also tried at /Applications/ZbrushOSX 4R2 as noted in the installer itself… both had the same results. I also changed the permissions to 777 even though the account I was running under had full permissions to the directory.

Anyone else had a similar problem they were able to get around?

Thanks

Submit a Support ticket and include your Cleverbridge reference number of ZBrush 4 serial number. We’ll send you a link to download a direct installer for 4R2b. When you’re ready to download it, delete your 4R2 folder first as this is not an updater and you don’t want file conflicts.

First an update… being my first post this took awhile to appear and I kept hacking away at my issue here. After posting I kept coming back to the chance that it was a permissions issue, even though I’d reset the entire directory to 777. What struck me odd though, was that I was never being prompted for an Admin password for the install.

So I ran the package with sudo from the command line and it worked fine.

I installed with the updater located here: http://www.pixologic.com/zbrush/downloadcenter/instructions.php

Though I have just received the email from Cleverbridge with the link for a new installer. Is there any advantage to removing the old install and running this from scratch?

Everything seems to work now, the version info says 4R2b, and FiberMesh and other new features are there (WOOHOO!). The only issue seems to be that the [ and ] keys no longer do anything to the brush size and no idea how to set this again (was able to restore all my other Hot Keys, but any attempt to work on these as Hot Keys just replaces the S key for bringing up the Brush Size slider).

Thanks again for the help.

I would only reinstall at this point if you have more problems. Download the installer and save it so that you have a backup just in case. Otherwise, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!
