3D Threadless

Hello everyone,

My name is John. I lurk on this site quite a bit, but I dont usually post anything because I dont actually make any sculpts. I just enjoy them and Im really into rapid prototyping and manufacturing. So I am able to learn a lot and see trends based on whats going on here.

I have been thinking about starting a business that would be for anyone that loves 3d art. The business would basically be Threadless for 3d models. For anyone unfamiliar with the site (http://www.threadless.com/). The basic idea would be people submit their 3d models, the community votes, and the models with enough votes are put into short run production and sold to anyone who wants to buy them. I think it could be an opportunity for more exposure (both for the artist and 3d art in general) and a way for artists to get free prints (if your model was chosen to go into production you would obviously get a free copy yourself). Just wanted to post this on here to see if this idea had any traction, and the zbrush community would obviously be a large percentage of the people that it would be geared toward.

So please let me know if this sounds interesting or appealing to you, or if you think it is a terrible idea. Its not necessarily about making this idea work or proving that its good, I just dont want to waste my time on it if no one is interested. Also feel free to ask any questions.

Thanks guys
