How do you manipulate the triangulated scan data with Zbrush without the typical artifacts coming with the triangulated scan data?

I imagine you would need to retypo the mesh.
Regarding the 3D scans I have a few questions…

There are a few key points for the quality of the OBJ files we are using within ZBrush:
Morph Division,

Here are a couple other examples of 3D scans brought into ZBrush for further sculpting and modification.
Each scan is a watertight OBJ.
For the horse and knight, each piece was scanned separately and brought together in ZBrush.
For the dragon, the balls were added in ZBrush, making use of the SubTools plugin.
