Employment Position Description
JOB SUMMARY: Direct Dimensions, Inc. is looking for a full-time 3D Character Artist / 3D Digital Sculptor for its Owings Mills, MD location. This position will focus on working with 3D scan data to produce finished 3D models. The 3D Artist should demonstrate a solid understanding of human anatomy, organic sculpting and hard surface modeling. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to keep pace with deadlines is required.
PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS: • Cleaning up 3D scanned models of people, apparel, objects, vehicles, sets & locations, props, etc. • Ability to work on a variety of tasks ranging from sculpting from scratch to processing and modeling with 3D scan data of real-world objects and scenes • Ability to self-monitor progress, keeping pace with delivery schedule requirements for each project and providing regular feedback
QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION & TRAINING: Bachelor’s degree or relevant years of experience required
EXPERIENCE: At least 2 years’ experience as a Digital Artist with specific experience as a Character Artist
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: • Must be well versed in organic and hard surface sculpting in ZBrush as well as Maya and 3DStudio Max • Experience working with Photogrammetry software: Metashape, Reality Capture, other • Experience working with Adobe Photoshop • Experience preparing VR/AR ready models • Understanding of 3D print basics and creating watertight geometry • Ability and knowledge of keying and Boolean objects • Must exhibit a portfolio with samples of previous 3D modeling projects • Ability to work independently and achieve results while working on multiple projects within a fast-paced environment • Solid organizational skills with an ability to make necessary adjustments quickly while complying with art direction from others • Strong communication, interpersonal and teamwork abilities • Excellent attention to detail • Additional Software Skills: Houdini / Mari / Marmoset / Substance / Mudbox
