2019 zremsher and draw polyframe bugs

Hi Folks! I just upgraded and have problems with zremesher and draw polyframe.

Zremesher just doesn’t work. Doesn’t matter if I try do remesh basic polycube or mesh with 10k or 50k, try to use new or legacy algorithm. Progress bar goes to to the end and just stays there. I tried to leave it going for almost an hour but after initial high usage of power it goes to 0 and just stays there. So I guess it is doing something but it never updates the model and it just doesn’t do anything. When I press esc it is 50/50 - sometimes it says that operation was aborted by user or just exits fullscreen.

Draw polyframe doesn’t update viewing wireframe when I subdivide. I have to turn it off and on again or to delete lower.

Load the polysphere ztl from lightbox and attempt to remesh that with Zremesher. If that works, then there’s something problematic about the subtool you are attempting to remesh, and we need to troubleshoot that.

Draw polyframe doesn’t update viewing wireframe when I subdivide. I have to turn it off and on again or to delete lower.

Feature, not bug. This is a result of the Preferences > Draw > Variable PFO function, which draws poly lines for each subd level increasingly thin on subdivided objects with multiple levels of resolution. Past a certain point, you wont be able to see further subdivisions when subdividing if this is active, and you have multiple res levels.

This is good, because very dense polyframes are both difficult to make out (they just look solid black) and also negatively impact navigation performance.

I’m aware how draw polyframe works, it didn’t update it at any subdivision level. but I reinstalled ZBrush and now it works like in previous versions.

So about that zRemesher:
I’ve tried it with polysphere, dynameshed subtools, results of live boolean, imported models etc. If it was just one tool I’ve wouldn’t be writhing here. Its everything I’ve tried it with.

It always looks the same - I push the button, ZBrush displays „ZRemesh Progress…”, bar goes to end and nothing happens.

Sorry you’re having trouble. It works for me, so it sounds like there’s a problem with your install. The fact that you had to reinstall the program to fix your other issue seems to support this.

Other than reminding you to follow the upgrade instructions, especially the part about disabling AV which may prevent some component from installing correctly, I cant guess at what might be wrong. You may have a corrupted installer, which has happened to me. Try completely re-downloading it.

Marcus also posted a useful response to another person having a Zremesher issue. Check that out here.
If none of this helps, you may need to contact support.
