2019 Camera import/export discrepancy

Hi,

The new universal camera is interesting, but it doesn’t work for me.

  1. From 3dsmax 2019 -> export fbx scene with camera = doesn’t import the camera in zbrush.

  2. From zbrush, create camera, export fbx = works in 3dsmax (with some weird random camera flipping sometimes)

  3. Export back the fbx after tweaking camera position = imports camera in zbrush but camera position/composition doesn’t match.

I have the zbrush document size matching the 3dsmax output render size.

Sad the universal camera is only restricted inside zbrush realm for me. :frowning:

Does anyone has a clue?

Thank you.

Hello @Bridge

Sorry you’re having some trouble!

Unfortunately, I dont have any way of testing your specific workflow. If you’ve read the documentation for the universal camera, and have a reproducible issue in one or both directions, you should report the issue to Support.

Be sure to be using the most up to date version (currently 2019.1.2) of Zbrush before reporting any issues. Outdated versions aren’t supported, and may be missing an existing fix.

The import plugin for the camera is not well polished, it works for handful of applications only, and the documentation is very poor, in short this looks like its not something the devs have any interest in, a shame… as it would make Zbrush very useful for a lot of things when compositing is needed on an image.
