That x-mas factor is something I did not take into consideration. They should have noted that in the shipping options page though. Nevertheless I can understand why it would not make it in two days now.
Aaron – I apologise. I promise you, the sole purpose of my previous post was a genuine and sincere ‘Thank you’ to you for the supportive comment you made. Living in California, you have nothing to gain by making that comment, and that is what I was thanking you for. In fact that one line to you was the only sincere part of the whole post. The entire content of the preceding section was just my obviously bad attempt at harmless nonsensical humour!
I AM slightly disappointed I won’t be able to order the DVD’s, but I assure you not THAT disappointed that I would genuinely make a serious unwarranted, unprovoked and bigoted attack on an entire nation. (I don’t have to, we both have politicians that do that!)
Anyway, again, sincere apologies to you and anyone else who took offence at anything I said. Maybe English humour is like Nitroglycerine in a Kangaroo’s pouch - it doesn’t travel well! I DO try and hold back on using humour in posts. but sometimes, I just can’t help myself!
chill guys…i’m sure a setup like 3dlinks can come up with an alternative for us…it is afterall in everyones interests.
no worries…
btw…i x-posted info on cgtalks zb forums also so hopefully if they see that there is a viable market in the uk for them i’m sure they’ll respond to it.
No worries. And, sorry if my reaction was a little harsh.
I got that you were joking on the first half, but then that context was still hanging so it made the last part seem just as bitter and sarcastic; the culmination of all you were joking about. I think humor travels well (even British humor. are you kidding? we’re ravenous importers of BBC Comedy…), but it is subject to inertia. With no audio or visual inflection to break things up, the tone of one section slides effortly over into the next. It’s the all-text nature of a posting board that so often leads to misunderstanding.
(I try to break things up with text formatting to clue folks in to when the tone’s changed. That sometimes works, but I do find myself apologizing fairly often as well)
Anyway, yes. If Mark at 3dlinks is able to take some time out of his busy holiday schedule to investigate other shipping options for you, he can maybe beat overseas distributors to the punch and score some extra sales.
Failing that, I think overseas distributors will seize upon this opportunity – they’d be foolish not to. And Gnomon would be foolish not to make arrangements with them.
We’re all suffering from impatience right now. With content this exciting just out of arm’s reach, of course we’re on edge.
Your patience is going to be tested much more than ours, it seems, as the "OMG these DVDs are so goood!" posts start rolling in. Just roll with it – nobody’s trying to rub it in…
With any luck, this’ll all resolve itself sooner rather than later.
If an international incident, involving something as insignificant as a Junior Whitehouse Secretary and a cigar, can escalate into ‘The Cuban Missile Crisis’ (& the brink of World War 3D), then imagine the crisis that could have developed over something as significant as ZBrush DVD’s, had we not both been mature enough to sort it out between ourselves. It just doesn’t bear thinking about!
You are so right.
People… FYI
3Dlinks has not been authorized to sell our DVDs on their site. They misrepresented themselves to our rep implying that they were a physical store (we do have physical store resellers such as CCS, Art Center and bookstores). We will potentially begin working with online resellers early next year, but for now, anyone who ordered from their site, be aware that they probably do not have enough inventory to fulfill the orders that were placed with them. (I believe they only ordered 2 of each title from us).

Ok, so I just spoke with Mark @ 3Dlinks… he was friendly and I explained to him the situation… I believe it was a simple misunderstanding between him and our rep (he didn’t think he needed to specify that it was for online sales, and our rep didn’t ask but just assumed it was a physical store). We will begin working with online resellers soon (several online stores have contacted us), but for now we do not have policies in place for that. The products will be taken down from 3Dlinks, but early next year we will begin allowing online stores (other than our own), to begin selling Gnomon DVDs…
and there you have it.
-Alex
Glad to hear that all worked out.
Out of curiousity, what are an overseas user’s current options as far as international shipping from Gnomon are concerned? (your website doesn’t explicitly state prices for that, so I’m guessing it’s evaluated on a case by case basis) I felt bad wanting to advise others, but not knowing this key detail.
also will you be offering a bundle deal on all 3 of the zb dvds??
cheers alex
Given the “10% off for all the new DVDs regardless whether you actually need Maya content” bundle, I wouldn’t hold my breath on that one.
They’re a great value as-is, guys. Let’s see that passed on to other continents before we get greedy…
(my guess is we’ll see a ZBrush bundle when more sets are available. the ZSpheres DVD, a female mesh out of Zack, and maybe one or two things not yet mentioned…)
OMGosh Meats. I just watched Your Bonus movie on the first DVD. IT WAS THE BEST! The music was freakin’ awesome too.
A.Alvarez,
When will you folks have a bundle sale?
Cheers!
Not sure why I bother posting.
I’m interested in purchasing the “Introduction to ZBrush” by Gnomon. Since I am unable to view a sample; would there be someone who has purchased this package and could give me some thoughts on it.
Thanx a Million!
P.S. Wishing this forum a very merry christmas and happy new year!
