This is my first work in Zbrush … I used one of the default tools as a jumping off point.

I looked at the app years ago and found it hard to get my head around. 3.1 rocks! I just downloaded the 30 day trial version this morning.

Cheers,

I used zbrush and photo shop to darken areas-- krakken_head_simple2.jpg

Here’s my first creation made in about 30 minutes to try and get a handle on where the tools were/get a feel for the program. Not on par with most of the other great stuff here but hey, we all have to start somewhere

I just wanted to cheer everyone on.

It’s always wonderful to see those willing to share the really first works with Zbrush so that progress can be seen over time. For some I think you missed the point of this thread, but time will tell.

Welcome to 2008 to everyone here and viewing, keep encouraging new people to post here, it’s rather interesting in the pattern developing and should help provide useful tutorials and threads to help get everyone upto the level they desire to be at.

prior to using zbrush for the first time i had done some modeling and sculpting with maya.
i’m not sure if these are my first models, but they are the oldest files that i have, made back in zbrush 1.55
i have no clue what the thing on the left was supposed to be, a tree maybe?maybe its upside down.
its interesting to see how caracatured the face is, i still have a problem with making eyes too big at the beginning. and still occassionally find myself sculpting with overexaggerated features then later sizing them down, too many years drawing comics i suppose. Jason do you still have rabbits(looking at your first post in this tread)? i have four, poo and roo wouldve been great names, its like a minefield even though i sweep like 10times a day.

I didn’t realize this thread was for everyone to post their first works, including those of us who have been around awhile. I though it was only for the recent crop of newbies, so I didn’t post. I got ZBrush in March 2002. I looked through my archives and old ZBC threads and found this one from April 12, 2002. I think that makes it my oldest head model. Prior to this, I only did vases, a turtle, M&M’s…stuff like that.

Here is my first zbrush project. Still w.i.p but very nearly there.

phariahbob, not bad, if that is supposed to be a bullet entry and you’re striving for realism you need to crush the skull in a bit, if you look up some real images of bullet wounds (not the fake movie type) the bone will collapse, esp depending on the calibur of the round.
