Scott Eaton gave a Master class
http://www.scott-eaton.com/
No one on earth knows anatomy like this man, what a day and the students and lecturer staff loved every minute of his full day lecture 10am - 5pm
I took about 20 pages of notes:D I hope the students realise how lucky they have been.

I will post the students results from his studies soon.
No one on earth knows anatomy like this man
But he doesnāt know how to hide it.
Visit museums, something more esoteric exists in great sculpture.
I really need a lesson on how to hide, on what to show.
Thank you for the tip, the students regularly go to london museums as its only 22minutes by train from where the University is, The museums are free and we also go to exhibitions like the Body Worlds which the students love to go to.

Maybe you need to see more of Scotts work?
Scott Eaton is an artist, technical director and anatomy consultant residing in London, UK. He received his masterās degree from the MIT Media Lab and subsequently studied traditional fine art at the Florence Academy of Art, Italy where he began to integrate the lessons of the old masters with modern computer graphics tools. Scott has transferred many of the lessons from Florence and the knowledge of years of subsequent study into his Anatomy for Digital Artists Course. He believes that understanding the underlying form and function of the figure is critical to success as a character designer, modeler, rigger or animator. His course has evolved to combine classical anatomy training with modern digital tools and gives artists a strong foundation for mastering artistic anatomy.
I could go on but that sums it up quite well.
These are nice drawings thanks. The bottom right sculpt is my favorite.
But I insist on what I wrote, visit museums! Ancient Egypt⦠etc
To have a look on real sculpture via photos isnāt the best. This makes me think otherwise, about photoreal renderers actually. A long story.
Did you not read the start of my reply?
The students regularly go to london museums as they are not only some of the best in the world but are also free small_orange_diamond

As for ancient Egypt a lot of the artifacts can be found in the British Museum which got kindly donated during the Victorian empire and its FREE!small_orange_diamond

@LittleClaude: WOW! Body Worlds is free for you!? I had to pay 50 bucks a ticket over here in Texas to see it lol. I wish I was Scottās roommate lol.
@michalis - Scott Eaton is one of the very best and āhidingā or whatever its called really means nothing. Itās just another artist nitpicking for no reason than to do so. Until you have the credentials equal to Scott you really have nothing to back your opinion up.
And the definition of esoteric is -
understood by or meant for only the select few who have special knowledge or interest
Since great sculpture is the opposite of that make sure you know the definition of the word before using it. I am sick of the artists on here who complain about the smallest things and who comment before reading the previous posts.
@DAnconia, oh, did I say that I donāt approve Scott Eatons work? Where?
I like some of Scott Eatonās work but I donāt like this famous nude on the magazine for example. He isnāt āTHE master of anatomyā. Not a michelangelo I mean. I can accept that he is a master of zbrush sculpting. I wish I had his 3d skills.
@LittleClaude, I know everything about the British Museum, I spent months there. Learn from the elgin marbles then. Not much anatomy to see. Something deeper though.
Why are you so offensive? This is my point of view, sorry if I spoiled your thread. Have a nice day. Sorry for my english but please donāt teach me what āesotericā means. Its a greek word after all.
woah everybody, relax.
The important thing here is that there is some fantastic work from the students at the University of Hertfordshire. Good to see such a high level coming out of uni. They seem to strike a good balance of traditional study and CG work.
(BTW, had a chance to attend an anatomy course with Scott in London. It blew me away, gave me new eyes for looing at the figure. He is undoubtably a master of anatomy).

first of all Iām totally digging the stylized game character approach.chances are high that your characters will be much more lively than any photorealistic attempts ala ācrisisā and the likes.
that said I have one suggestions. since the general shape outlines are already good and readable I would invest more work in the clothing folds and simplify while at the same time exaggerating them, for more pronounced ālandmarkā folds which support the general flow.
Awesome work!
Agree about the cloth folds, add some weight to those pockets on the bag and tension on the straps. Texs shirt could be āburstingā more with creases coming out from the buttons.
Thank you for your feedback, I will pass it on.
They have started on the blend shapes.
I like it when students post up WIP shots
This thread just keeps getting better and better, and is a real pleasure, and treasureā¦Love that short film with the flying whales.Adriftā¦
The whole concept for putting together and sharing this thread is GREATā¦
Thank you, I will keep uploading bits and bobs as they come in.
