HOLY CRAP IT WORKS!!!!!!!! open quick time then under Edit > Preferences - Quick Time preferences - Advanced - Safe Mode (GDI Only)
turn that on, and IT WORKS! Zbrush will no longer crash!
man!! hell yeah, that works, thank you so much.
C - Thanks so much - this is a truly remarkable forum. I was about to give up on movie export until I found this solution. Swingin’ ! - B
Thanks - that works!
Thanks very much this has been frustrating us for ages!!!
I’m glad I found this thread. I knew it was something with QT because I have been getting similar crashes in After Effects as well.
Here is my new problem, I knew that Z was going to crash (Actually QT) so I have been saving ZBrush movies instead of exporting them.
When I try to load these movies ZB runs out of memory and crashes on me every time.
The size of my video’s range from 600 megs to 1.4 gigs. (I know you are thinking, dang that is huge no wonder it is crashing.)
The thing is I can be sculpting on my multi million poly model, recording a movie in ZB and recording a video in Camtaia all at the same time no problem. I can even export the ZB movie a that time (When QT wasn’t crashing.) and ZB still works like a champ, it takes a long time to produce the video but it produces it never the less.
But if I load up ZB and just the movie file (no models, nothing but the ZB video files.) it crashes every time.
Something is drastically changing with the memory management when you load a video as opposed to just creating one on the fly.
I have 2 gigs of ram and about 40 gigs of free space on my drive.
Anyone have any suggestions on how to get these videos to load so I can encode them as aQT files?
Thanks for the help!
NickZ.
Hi Nick. What is your compact mem setting at?
It is set to 256 by default. I bumped it up to 4096, and 1024 and 2048.
No luck.
Thanks-Nickz.
funny enough I had the same thing exactly but when trying to export quicktimes out of xsi… and it’s only with the new QT version…
i had the same problem and i had posted it on CGTANTRA as well…but then tried searching for it on google…EUREKA…found this link!!!
THANKS A LOT!!!
I have the same problem, and here is what I do to make it work
-I record my turntable
-I click on save to save it in zbrush movie format
-I restart Zbrush
-I load the movie
-and I export
generally it works fine for me
QT is a PIECE OF JUNK. It would be nice if Zbrush exported a stupid simple but standard movie format instead of Zmovie. Then we could use the external video editor/convertor of our choice to convert it to something else.
