The heart of the issue is these people need new management I hate to sound like Dr. Phil but I would like to ask them “HOW IS THE CRYING WOLF THING WORKING FOR YA” ! It will make me think twice about buying a 4.5 or 5.0 regardless if I was using a Mac or PC and 6.0 was free and just around the corner.
Pixologic hasn’t changed in like 3 years… what makes you think they will change because of posts here?
They are what they are… accept them, or look elsewhere.
Any news on when plugins will work with 3.5?
Decimation Master, SubTool master, ZAppLink etc
Cheers
Lasciate ogni speranza, voi ch’entrate :ex:
Blender can handle 600 000 poly now, using sculpt mode, smoothly. Textures in blender are superb too. I use zbrush just for details, so v3.2 is fine, v3.5 doesn’t look useful to me. As a mac user I stopped visiting zb support stopped reading announcements everyday. Just waiting for decent bump, normal and displacement maps export. zspheres and retopology are really really useless for me. I’m talking about blender because its a freeware app so has live debugging, these buys look more professional than zbrush’s teem to me. sorry.
Wow but they turn so quickly huh?
“Mmm…free…buf…fet…
<chomp chomp>
What?
No more?
These bastards should’ve put more out”
Gratitude quickly fades into contemp.
I for one have been working in 3d for years…
oh the humanity of Ray Dream Designer (any other old timers here?)…
and we were happy to get through a job.
ZBrush is awesome on it’s worst day, nuf said…
Pixologic is stars and strips above oh so many of the other companies…
and by all means, try the other stuff out.
Some does this and some does that but truth be told,
you need a toolbox full of tools to work in this industry…
not a single all in one solution.
Thank you Pixologic for doing what you do!
(now get back to work on that whole GoZ thing k?)
LW, I too am an “old timer” and I hear what you’re saying. But, I am missing the plug-ins etc. a bit too so I can understand people’s frustrations. I’ve reverted to 3.1 for most of my work at my job simply because those plug-ins did extend the functionality of Zbrush alot for the ways I like to work.
Tomorrow, this thread will be a month old. That there has not been an announcement about the status of the plug-ins or about fixing bugs (like the lazymouse crash issue) seems a bit less than optimal.
Believe me, I’m appreciative of not having had to pay for an upgrade, but if you promise me a free Steak dinner (Zbrush 4, coming end of Aug. 09. featuring Go Z!!!), and then give me a hamburger (Zbrush 3.5, no Go Z, but other cool tools didn’t come until Sept.), I’m still thankful for the meal, but I was hoping for more because I was promised more.
To be pissed at Pixologic is just silly IMHO (although I’ve been there before) but finding a good path for your work-flow right now between 3.1 (if you like the plug-ins and stability) and 3.5 (speed, zsketch etc. hardsurface stuff, noise etc.) is really the only logical choice a lot of us have right now. Seems like the best way to get the job done to me is to look at what you want to make and then figure which package to use for which parts.
I do have total faith Pixologic will release a great update in the future, and I can’t wait for Go-Z on the PC, but until then, I’ve got all the tools I need, just not under one roof
totally agree with you pointpusher. i just played a bit with the new sculpting tools etc but for any serious works i’m still using 3.1 . i can’t do without Zapplink, transpose master, subtool master or Decimation Master. I guess we will migrate at work once ZB 4 will be released. I didn’t expect them anymore to make compatible version of the plugins for the 3.5 it’s too late. Now let’s just hope the v4 will be out soon and that the plugs will be part of the update:)
I agree there REALLY needs to be full plug-in support for any current version officially released. Otherwise I would prefer for them to refer to it as Beta so we know it is being worked on.
One thing I use on a regular basis in the Poser plug-in due to my workflow. Without it, I really would not consider ZBrush for my use and I know others are fond of many plug-ins for their workflow too. That is why I REALLY hope we see some sort of announcement at least that plug-ins like the ones found in 3.1 are in development and some idea as to the progress or support coming.
I really want to love ZBrush, but sometimes they just don’t have very good PR about what is going on and current status updates. It seems like things get delayed for years with no word about even if they are still alive and what they are working on.
I was told by a Zrep when activating my key over the phone that there will be a 3.5R3 to come out before 4 and that they are continuing to work on the application plugins and of course GoZbrush.
Now that, is good news indeed. Thanks for the tip.
What means “before 4” ? Q4 ? December 4th ? 4PM on any random day ?
before 4 = prior to the release of ZBrush 4
Q4 = Quarter 4 of the fiscal year
December 4th = the 4th day of December, 2009
Zbrush 4
WOW, glad you clarified, because I thought you meant before 4pm, and I kept checking. I am not joking.
Time to close this thread. We are getting desperate.
I seriously hope Pixologic have given up trying to push out a Mac version of 3.5 and just concentrate on a simultaneous platform release of 4.
This endless game of catch up is very frustrating.
That said, ZB is still the best and it comes when it comes.
Big respect to the development team working through all the whining. (my own comment included!)
@daytona : It would be great if they posted a note about the recent plans, including such a change. How much of their precious time it would take : 5 mins ? They ANNOUNCED date for Z4, and while 3.5 Mac has been officially set to undefined, the Z4 Q4 release is still the last official info… they should update this, it is pretty bad PR from their side. Hope their developers are completely shielded out of this, but it is their marketing guy who is clearly not getting the job done.
The news stuff are incredible and i’m waiting to use them, are there news about mac version? Thx
I am just a customer so here is my guess.
I bet Pixologic is preparing zbrush 3.5 for a mac release - adding fixes and ‘lightbox’. My guess is all this is being done in carbon for 32bit.
I would GUESS that Zbrush 4 will be 64 bit for Mac (and PC). That would slow things down for the MAC development because Pixologic has to code everything in ‘cocoa’ for 64bit, instead of carbon. From what I have read on different forums this would mean starting over in the coding.
But I am not a programmer so my guesses may be wrong.
