*** ZBrush 3.5 for Windows RELEASED

Hey lijueshi,

I don’t know if you could do a direct install into your Linux Ubuntu Wine. I tend not to do this because wine has all of the files to work with when you have a program already installed in windows for translating the windows code into a Linux program on the fly. So since it has more windows files to work with you typically get better results when running and using wine in Linux. If you try to install directly into wine you might not end up with all of the files you need to run XYZ program. Sometimes that works and sometimes it does not because you have missing files typically. You can try it who knows it might work. I just know this works for sure.

To the Mac user you can run Linux programs on your Mac since your OSX is a unix. So if you install wine on your Mac there is a pretty good chance you can follow my instructions and have Windows ZBrush 3.5 running on your mac with out having to wait for the Mac version.  Only I suspect it will be more difficult on the mac because you are not going to have the easy download install system that Ubuntu linux has. All of the shell commands will work though as you are using Unix and the shells are identical.  :stuck_out_tongue: So you can probably forget about going to the mountain for your mac you will probably have to go to the Moon to pull the samething off. lol :stuck_out_tongue:  Just a joke.

Cheers,
Nate Nesler

Sadly, I’m still twiddling my thumbs over here. Any minute now…

Well that’s all for 3.1, very good times with it, the most beautiful days of my life i spend with you, now it’s time to say goodbye, we really gonna miss you, i remember those summer funny days when i trying to create a realistic face, and at the end of the day, i end with an ugly alien deformed, and now, for that reason im gonna sing a little song to this moment…

-baby come back any kind of fool could see
There was something in everything about you
Baby come back, you can blame it all on me
I was wrong, and I just can’t live without you

ok enough! HAHAHAAH i was inspired (yeah right!)!! Sorry! hahaha. see ya! 3.1 :(.

manzarek123,I know you, why see ya to 3.1?what’s wrong?

Any idea how the update send outs are going, percentage wise? were they still sending out over the weekend? When they finally announced it was sending i didn’t see an updated “don’t post a ticket till after ‘blank’” date. When should I start squeaky wheeling?

I wonder y they havnt released a fresh download from their website?

there wont be it?

i want to start my life with 3.5.

please answer me.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe we’re all using the same build of 3.5 that’s compile for x86 32. There is no 64 bit version yet, right?

Hi everyone who’s still waiting,

I’ve sent an ticket to the support team about my missing upgrade email and in about two hours I’d received a reply with the download and activation instructions. Give it a try. This guys rock and are really eager to help you out!

Thumbs up to the pixologic crew!

Cheers,

Joost

Coooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool !

when is the 64bit coming ,

Oh, help! after a small holdup that was solved by installing the dll’s, I have 3.5 working right now. And I can’t stop!! It is really great, but I have to finish my other work… and 3.5 is addictive!! Now I can really make great stuff!

… “installing the dll’s”…
WHAT dll’s??
Thank you!

mine is installed. now must learn to use it. thanks pixologic!

I dont know if this means anything, but I am using 64 bit windows 7, and have no issues running the download.

Hi Zaphod,

My pc runs on a 64-bit Vista system. When I tried to run the ZBrush.exe file, nothing happened but I got a message that there was something wrong with the side-by-side configuration. I submitted a ticket to support and they came up with a solution that was build in all along: in your 3.5. folder there is a folder named “Troubleshoot help”. I followed the instructions in that map (see the txt file) and it worked!

I was able to install and run ZBrush directly in Ubuntu via Wine. All I had to do was run the vcredist_x86_VS2008_sp1.exe file once first and then run ZBrush.

At startup it seems as if the app crashed, but it takes a minute to get running.

The only thing you can’t do is activate online but I got an activation code via email the same day.

I’ve really only played with ZSpheres, Surface Noise, and the new Planar brushes but it all has worked so far. Its a little slow but I’m running it in a VM and it was the same on a VM with XP.

Also, I think I remember one of the Pixologic guys saying that the info isn’t your license info and is harmless. I checked mine and it doesn’t match my activation request or code. Probably safest to blur it out though.

I tried running it on a Mac with Darwine initially but didn’t have any luck. After creating a link to the executable in Ubuntu I saw similar errors and think I know what the problem is. So I’m going to try again with Darwine today and if that fails maybe try compiling Wine myself.

Thank you for bothering - had tried this already.
