Holy Mamma, I just flew past my original Multithreaded increase of 155% in ZBrush 3.5 by looking at the “Preferences>Performance>Multithreaded Steps”.
For some reason, it was set to 2. The default should be 6.
I set it to 6 and did the Multithread Test again and…
Multithreading resulted in a 243.00% speed increase.
(versus my 3.1 increase of 59.79%) (so 4x faster now)
Again, Pixologic, you. frakking. rock.
dfaris - Yeah, no it doesn’t make me feel better but thanks anyway… maybe a little reassured that they aren’t done emailing yet.
Zaphod - I thought of that too but it still does not help.
I think I need to just relax like you said and get away from this site and keep working with what I have.
That’s a fake (not your post): speed is measured in miles per hour, and your results are hinting very strongly that 3.5 changed to the metric system, so now it is cm per hour:D.

Well, after a little problem with a corrupt download, I’m up and running! This is incredible! My dual core athalon is running at 151% increase and the whole program seems much smoother. I can’t imagine the work that we will see at this forum in the weeks and months to come. Got to go play. Thankyou! Rich.
Just did the install with no hiccups. Where do I look for specifics on new features?

Got mine this morning at 3:26AM Eastern Time in Ontario, Canada. To all who still havent recieved, just hold on and sit tight! Your time will come soon! Don’t worry about not having registered with the Support site. I never did. They just send you your email based on your previous ZBrush purchase.

I am running WinXP SP3 on a mac 8 core with boot camp. When I run the exe file of Zbrush, I get this error:
“Zbrush Executable has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.”
If anyone downloaded this on Friday AM Pacific Standard Time - Please redownload immediately!
I think there’s instruction in the “READ ME FIRST” PDF that tells you how to fix that.
I redownloaded the distribution - the install issue is now fixed.

I just got a link to download 3.5 in my account page in the support center… No email… so for all of those of you that still haven’t’ received an email, maybe you’ll want to check out your support page…

For those who have used it, is the freeze bug fixed? You know, the one where if you pull up the spacebar or right click menu while sculpting (or something like that) would freeze zbrush and basically not allow you to save or do anything. Also is the bug where your brush settings are carried over to another brush if you alt clicked on the model before you change settings, fixed? These two things annoyed the hell out of me.
I’ve never encountered either of those problems, so the fact that I’m not encountering them now isn’t terribly informative. That’s going to be true for most of us.
Search for a thread where people are discussing that problem, and ask there if 3.5 resolved it.

I got mine! The problem was cleverbridge or whatever mechanism sends the email had a very old email addy for me. The one I used when I bought 1.5
So make sure your email is up to date.
