Nice!
Ghost-d : If you are logged in as ghostdog and that user account is set as Administrator it sounds like you have forgotten or entered the wrong password. Which version of windows are you using?
Yay I Got My 3.5 Just 2 Hours After My Post!!!
Thank You Pixologic You Beautiful People.
OK, I got my mail, downloaded and unzipped like said in the e-mail to the Programs Folder (I chose Program Files (x86) because I’m on Vista64bit, and not the pixologic folder, just as was asked), double clicked the .exe and got the following warning:
“The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log for more detail.”
A bit of a bummer this is…what to do and where can I find that application event log?
Questions and Troubleshooting for ZBrush 3.5 should be posted in the Q&T forum
See the first post in that thread.
I´m on windows xp professional SP2.
I see what you mean, but there are two options. the current user is set by default. so when I click on administrator, and put my password (the one I have for ghostdog), then I get the bad pass error. And if I leave it blank, he has this for me:
"
unable to log on:
Logon failure: user account restriction. Possible reasons are blank passwords not allowed, logon hour restriction, or a policy restriction has been enforced
"
the thing is that I don´t know what other password to give him as ghostdog is the admin. I really have no idea what to do. should I just create an account named administrator? that seems silly…
Erik, I explained this a couple of posts back.
You can read what to do on Pixologics Support site.

The folders scheme, vc++ from troubleshoot folder… that´s what I´ve got. I have the folders set like that, I have installed the vc++, but I can´t get to install it. First I was having an error that the application can´t start because the configuration is not correct… but as I installed the vc++ I don´t even get that message, all I get is the well known windows error: send error report/don´t send. you know what I mean…I´ve already sent a ticket so now I´m waiting for a response… I really don´t know what could be the problem. Hope they will have some answers. It´s just weird that I didn´t read about anyone else having the same issues. I hope I won´t have to format the disc. But just in case… what should I do when I want to format? I mean regarding the license. I have zbrush activated online, so should I just deactivate, format the disc, install zbrush and activate? I don´t want to miss any step so I didn´t have any more problems regarding licensing… that´s the least I need - another problem.
Wait a sec… what do you mean by “all files and folders”. In zrbush 3.1 folder I only have what I had there before, and in zbrush 3.5 I only have it´s folders just like it was when it was packed. I didn´t copy anything from any of the folder to the other. Is that what you had in mind?
No, that’s how it should be : unzip the archive and place the ‘ZBrush 3.5’ folder (which contains all the subfolders) in the ‘Pixologic’ folder in the ‘Program Files (x86)’ folder.
Then try launching ZBrush, if you get an error like the ones listed on Pixologic’s site, then execute the ‘vcredist…exe’ file in the ‘Troubleshoot Help’ folder which installs VC++.
Then ZBrush should launch fine when double clicking the ‘ZBrush.exe’ file.
Mind you : the ‘ZBrush.exe’ file is not an installation exe : it launches ZBrush right away.
If that does not happen after you have done all that, and you have administrator privileges, the I don’t really know what else to do as what you have done namely sending a support ticket.
If you don’t get the first error anymore, then it means that VC++ installed fine I guess.
Which I could be of better assistance
Excitin
That´s exactly what I´ve done, and the result is that ZBrush doesn´t open.
As for the first error. I didn´t get the same error as they mentioned. the one they mentioned was something “… side-by-side configuration …”, but my error doesn´t contian anything like it. Like I said I´ve already sent ticket to support center and I´m really wondering what they come up with, because this is quite a headscratcher…
but thanks anyway

Creating an account with that name does not remedy (if you can name an account like that).
I guess you have to get info from someone on how to recover your password if possible.
I never set an administartor password anymore as I always get into this kind of trouble when I do …
Man, I feel your pain, we’ve all been there and done that …
EDIT1: the ‘vcredist…exe’ is a remedy for more than one error.
EDIT2: The only thing I can think of if everything else fails is a fresh reinstall of ZBrush, or even a fresh reinstall of Windows, but in both cases you need to ask Pixologic for a recovery activation code.
I´m not sure I know what you mean. See, I can login to windows, I just can´t run zbrush, and we were trying to run it as admin, but the thing is that the logged account IS admin.

If you have admin privileges then ZB should be working.
You’re folders are like this :
…Program Files
…Pixologic
…ZBrush3
…subfolders of 3
…ZBrush3.5
…subfolders of 3.5
where BOTH ZBrush3 folder AND ZBrush3.5 folder are subfolders of Pixologic folder ?
yes, for the millionth time - yes… everything is just the way it should be. I don´t see any reasonable… reason , why it doesn´t work. it should - it does not, and I have no idea why. and now I´m starting to feel kinda bad for spamming this thread with the same issue for like 2 pages, but I really didn´t find the troubleshooting thread before.
EDIT:
shouldn´t I just uninstall the 3.1, install pure 3 and upgrade then? because I had the feeling it´s from 3.1 to 3.5 so I didn´t do anything about that. Please… tell me that that´s it…
Downloaded…
install issues…
used provided folder and loaded C++ thing…
ran as Admin…
BAM, up and running.
Vista 64 here and it’s pumping…
only got to play with it for an hour or two.
Only complaint so far is that this is going to cost me money.
I’m going to have to give my wife the big credit card and send her off shopping just so I can have this weekend to use this. Argh.
Other than that…
Pixologic, you guys and gals ROCK!
I have several questions. When finished sending e-mails? or this already over? I still have no e-mail with the link. when I start to scream and shout for help?
woo, wonderful,i am waiting for new zbrush for a loing time, now it’s coming.

Sorry for asking again ghost-d, just wanted to make sure that’s all.
I didn’t uninstall 3, so I guess it’s not necessary.
I unzipped 3.5, then placed it in the Pixologic folder, then double clicked the ZBrush.exe (3.5), then got an error, then ran the vcredist…exe, then double clicked the ZBrush3.5exe (3.5) again and ZBrush launched.
Hey LeXuSMalus, long time no talk. Im waiting for the email, too. Don
t worry – youre not alone. They said 2 business days, so we shouldn
t start crying now… although it`s hard.
Had the 'side-by-side- configuration warning myself (Vista 64 here). I right clicked the .exe file and ran as administrator and seems to be working fine.
Sooooooo many new brushes to play with. Cheers Pixologic, you’re far too good to us!
Hi Moni! glad to see you! a miracle happened! wrote a message here and a minute later a letter arrived:)
