**** ZBrush 3.12 - for Mac OS X - to be released on September 29, 2008 ****

What I like to know is will it have the same performance as a 64-bit windows system. The amount of polys it fluidly handles could be 3-4 times as much than on a ‘regular’ 32-bit system. Never the less it’s great news… and about time as well

It’s like gold to finally be able to work (in a proper manner) again! Thank you Pixo!

And please keep us posted if the releasedate changes.

Er…just found out that it will be free, so no need to answer my above question, folks!

great for Mac users. Thanks for the hard work. but…why 3.12? does it have extra addons?

My guess to why it is 3.12 is that it will include all those downloadable plug-ins like transpose master and the others.

I’m just incredibly happy that I can finally take Parallels off my MacBook Pro and free up some hard drive space, not to mention the fact that I’ll be able to work with more polys now!

i have a few questions
1- is this zbrush 3.1 as we saw it on the pc. is it exactly the same? or is this going to have some updated features.
2- what is the power like? i would love a interview with the developers about the development process, would also like to know why it took so bloodly loong
3- will zbrush work directly mac features, such as ilife, iphoto?

no PPC??:frowning:

so why the wait…

I have ZBrush 2 for Mac and changed my licence to Windows when ZBrush 3 was released. If I want to go back to Mac now, will I loose my Windows licence? They will both be installed on the same computer, just different OS.

I’m very gratified to see this announcement. My biggest frustration with Pixo has been the lack of date certain for this release.

I want what I was promised when I bought Z2, a free upgrade to the next version for Mac OSX. Nothing more. Now it looks like I’ll be getting it at last on 9-29-2008.

I expect to PAY for any upgrade going forward as I have for many of the products I use and will do so GLADLY.

Finally, with the pending release of Z3.12 for Mac, Pixo is delivering on its promise. Pixo has cleaned things up with me, communicated and restored their integrity. The future of ZBrush depends on Pixologic being straight with its cutomers. I’m sure the bad feelings engendered by their delay and lack of communication with the Mac users have taught them a valuable lesson.

Happy ZBrushing to all!!! :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1:

Huzzah For Pixologic!!! ^^

Does anyone know if Zmapper will be included in Zbrush 3.12 for OS X. I don’t see it in the list of features. Seem pretty importand imo.

Omg… is this for real ? i have no Mac myself but congratulations to all you lucky Mac users out there  this is great news. And about time that all Mac people finally get Zbrush.

I am envious now…

/ Max

Great news.

I just had an evil thought… It would be funny if 3.12 for Mac had a couple of features what will be in 3.5 so we PC users then have to wait

Are there any plans to be able to purchase a single license that will run on both OS systems?

The last I heard was that Pixologic was no dedicated to dual releases of their product and that 3.5 was supposed to come out in December for both mac and PC.

Why release 3.12 for the in almost the beginning of October when 3.5 comes out 2 months later. This is a real indication that 3.5 is no way near close to coming out in December, typical of Pixologic.

A few questions:

  1. Will all of the plugins that have been written for the PC work with the Mac or do they all of to be recompiled for the max?

  2. Does it have ZMapper?

  3. Are there major bug fixes that we all seem to put up with in the PC version?

  4. Are there any new features that are not in 3.1 for the PC? When I talked to pixologic a while back they told me that the new Mac version would include features not currently seen on the PC.

  5. What are the system requirements for the Mac? How will the iMac handle subdivisions? What will the poly count on the last few iterations of the iMac?

ZBrush is a fantastic product, I will keep my fingers crossed that this will live up to the hype and past promises from Pixologic.

What about 3.5 and the announcement at Siggraph?

This is from a post two weeks ago (from Aurick)

The next release of ZBrush will be Version 3.5.
Version 3.5 will be released in the fourth quarter of 2008.
ZBrush 3.5 will be a FREE upgrade to all registered users (PC and Mac).
This will be the first unified version of ZBrush. That means that it will be released concurrently for Windows and Mac (Intel).

Either Aurick isn’t getting any information form Pixologic like the rest of us , or someone at Pixologic just got the bright idea to work together with Cedega and “Shell-porting” Zbrush for OSX intel (A.K.A not native) and my thoughts is that 3.5 will be native OSX.

This is just speculation though…

THANKS!

Finaly its PARTY TIME!!! woohoo!!

So am I right in thinking that 3.12 is simply 3.1 with bits behind the scenes so it works on Mac?

Anyway, I’m VERY happy for all you Mac users out there. I think you’ve all been very patient. And Pixologic, well done for getting there! It must have been a marathon run!

Well, because it was released after 3.10, it had to be something higher. Hence 3.12. My guess.
Anyways: I’m very happy for you all (win on a mac is not win on a pc, I know!) and err… don’t forget to SHOW your creations!
Let’s open a bottle of virtual champagne!
